Chapter 18

A soft wind touched his face, not as cold as yesterday. There was no snow in town, and with the sun shining, Jason figured there probably wouldn’t be any left outside Tom’s house by the afternoon.

He headed towards the café. Through the windows, he could see quite a few people already. He got the feeling the place was never empty, even though there couldn’t be many people living in Nortown. He opened the door, and a bell chimed above his head.

“I heard your dog found its way home.”

Jason remembered Tristan saying that the café’s owner—was it Jen?—had told them where to go look. “He did. It was you who found him?”
