Oscar and Sybil both chanted the incantation for personal power, while Selene supported with her now-weak powers. We could tell that she was out of sorts without her own grimoire.

Her contribution here was her power as an individual...the powers she was born with, which was enough energy to strengthen the circle. Her hold as a witch had diminished with the loss of her grimoire. Like a predator without claws. I was so glad I had the foresight to take it away from her back then.

My rueful thoughts heightened as I saw Oscar lift his staff and create a fortifying blaze of current, emitted from the crystal on his staff. It connected all the crystals around the fire with a circular band of light. As we watched, it rose slowly but surely upwards forming a cone. Once the cone was complete it became a strong beam that rose towards the communication tower.
