Chapter 61: The Final Countdown

The sun rose bright and warm on the day of the ritual. As far as I was concerned, it was a positive sign and I felt upbeat about handling the day with a fair amount of ease. We had managed very well so far. It wouldn't be too tough to just create obstacles in their ceremonial procedures until the FBI swooped down on them.

I pepped up our team and we were off to Santino's home. Energy seemed to be running high there as well. Santino was on tenterhooks and had his men running around with insane instructions. Sophia was not involved in any of the preparations.

I guess, in this case, his disdain for her abilities worked in her favor. In any case, she had been advised by the authorities against getting involved. She must have kept herself busy at home preparing for 'other' eventualities.
