Chapter 51: What's Going On?

We heard footsteps approaching and we held our breath. We had hidden at the back behind the seats of the car. The lock flipped open and we heard Amanda's voice, "Sid, Narissa are you there?"

We slowly peeked out and, both Jacob and she sat in the front seats.

"Why were you hiding?" Jacob asked.

"We saw Selene," Narissa replied. "She's the one who had kidnapped me."

"Oh my God! Really?" Amanda was surprised. "Then I'm not wrong in doubting these people."

"You're definitely on the right track," I concurred. "She's dangerous. By the way, why was she here?"

"Oh, she was just saying the same thing they told us - to train the rookies well. And to follow their dictates to the 'T'. She said it's important that we grow our tribe and assert our significance," Amanda repeated verbatim.

"Other than that, I think they wanted to have their private discussions and we were excused."

Just as Jacob powered the ignition, I thought aloud, "I wish we could eavesdrop on them."
