Chapter 47: Narissa's Reunion

Narissa's eyes shone as she asked, "You know my mom?"

The lady's face softened, and she intuitively came forward and embraced Narissa. "I'm Laura Miller. Yes, we've been friends from the time your mom started work at the Wolf Center.

"After you disappeared, your father blamed your mother 'coz you went missing. He accused her of being careless. And the fights became a little violent. Eventually they got divorced. He threw her out of the house and, luckily, she was provided staff quarters in the Wolf Center premises."

"Does she still live on the Center's grounds?" Narissa asked impatiently.

"Oh no! She has a house now. Your father was so steeped in alcohol all the time, he became extremely ill and died soon after. After his death, we got to know that the house actually belonged to your mother. She didn't have the heart to contest him on occupancy, because she knew he would be on the streets."
