Chapter 29: When Love Hurts

The realization that I loved her, hit me like a boulder. A boulder than showered me with soft fragrant rose petals. Sounds absurd I know.

It was a hard-hitting revelation as I comprehended my true feelings, that opened the doors of my closed heart to soft and tender emotions. It was heady mix and I reveled in that space.

Narissa, however, moved away from me after some time and had tears in her eyes. I was confused.

*Did I do something to upset her?*

She didn't say a word. She just jumped into the water and swam away. I was left wondering what happened. I didn't want this to end, and definitely not like this. I called out to her, but she didn't return.

My mind ran amuck with so many reasons for her sudden withdrawal, until I resigned myself to reality.

Maybe it was the hopelessness of the circumstances that distressed her. Yes, maybe that was it.
