Chapter 19: The Beginning of the End?

As the other leaders joined us, each one fearfully related what happened in their domain. We had to pacify them every now and then, as they raised more concerns.

Primarily, it was the size of the giants that seemed to be the daunting factor. They felt inadequate against the enormous creatures.

So did I, to be honest. The ogres were large too, so they were perhaps not as intimidated, but they were still diminutive in comparison. They couldn't see themselves fighting the giants and emerging victorious. Only the dragons could match up to them.

It was very clear that our contribution would have to be strategy and unflinching support, as Archon and his tribe stayed on the frontline. I was wondering if it would be possible to have a peaceful dialogue, or we'd have to resort to other methods.

As we discussed the options, Archon didn't seem particularly optimistic about achieving our goals peacefully. But he was willing to try, if everyone was in agreement of what needs to be done.
