C39 - Magic Lessons

After my mother left I was being tutored all day in reading and writing by Selahe. Initially, I hadn't given much thought to the spoken language after my summoning. It sounded like English to my ears and the lips seemed to match what I was hearing. I couldn't discount that Shani's "blessing" was assisting me in this area. I wished it would have allowed me to read and write from the get go. Learning a new language was grueling. Luckily, the language wasn't that complicated and the letters were straight forward. In my old world, nearly everyone was bilingual in English and Chinese. Chinese became popular for the succinctness of messages across great distances. The logographic letters of the Chinese alphabet was critical for data conservation when crew members were only allowed a ten character message to loved ones. Three days later, the next Solday, I was still nowhere near proficient in reading.
