Alessandra stared at the blank canvas in front of her, trying to come up with something to paint and place in the halls. "A flower, but what kind?" She muttered.
"How about a rose, duchess?" Wren asked, finding it to be a pretty flower to paint.
"Or lilies," Thea suggested.
Before Alessandra could answer, the door of her private room opened, revealing Elijah.
"Hello," Elijah greeted the women. He quickly closed the door behind him and made his way to his hiding spot.
"The little duke," Wren said, excited to see Elijah. She thought she would have missed the chance to see how big he had become when Alessandra said he was in the middle of being tutored. Wren hoped that Elijah would not be married before it was time for her daughter to marry.
"Hello, Elijah. Where is your aunt?" Alessandra asked, going back to look at her canvas. She already knew what had caused her nine-year-old to rush to her room.
