Chapter 2. The Hydra

I wake up and tiredly look at the cold ceiling, wondering how long I've been down here. I hear the countless drips of water making the floor flood a little. I groan as I feel the chains rip into my arms and legs, waiting for my breakfast of moldy bread and salty water. When my food arrives it's throw into the light flooded puddle. I pick it up and start to sob quietly as I eat. I hear screams coming from the corridor every night. I look up coldly as the guard smirks. He opens the cage and brandishes his whip and strikes me. He unchains me starts to drag me down the cold, dark hall. He shoves me into a pit and I start to scream as I fall. Then, CRACK.

I open my eyes and see countless bones beneath me. The smell of blood courses through my nose, and I grimace. I look up and see a nine-headed beast staring at me. The foul stench of its breath wafts down my neck. I gag, and my face starts to pale in fright. My hoarse voice cracks due to dehydration. Deep down, I wonder how much I have sinned to be brought to the maw of a beast.

I strain my body to get up and start to run. Blood streams down the cuts from the whip

I run toward what looks like an exit. The beast turn its head, and gives a hideous chuckle, and walks away from me. I don't look back. I run as much as my I'll body can handle. I reach what seems to be sunlight and run out. Then, a loud rumbling sound happens. I fall down and turn around to see the cave has collapsed. I look around to see greenery, sunlight, and a giant tree in the distance. I lay in the grass and slowly close my eyes, hoping that this is only a dream.
