Battle

The orb blinked and the number five flashed before their eyes. Peter glanced at the group of three people crowding in the fifth square before he join their ranks.

He keep casting worried side glances in Cayden's direction.

Indeed it was his turn.

Cayden appeared to be calm but he was ready. The information about the game disappeared in his eyes but he had no worries in his heart. This instance will not be a battle of wits but a battle of strength.

As long as he had the Drifter's Clock he and Pete can survive!

He faced the Alpha Beast Snake's cruel eyes and the orb light up to show him the question.

[Brother and sister were kidnapped and you could only save one, which one will you choose?]

In a heartbeat, Cayden answered truthfully. "Both."

On his throne, the Alpha Beast Snake frowned at his answer. He was about to open his mouth when the orb immediately flashed and the number 2 appeared on the screen.

All the players who were gathering in their respective square grids cast questioning glances at Cayden. Only Pete flashed him with an enthusiastic smile.

At his side, Cayden pretended not to notice the sharp gaze the Alpha Beast Snake is giving him. He calmly walked towards the second grid without much expression on his face.

The first round was over and now it's the second round.

The woman was asked a similar type of question again. But this time, the pattern let the players choose between person instead of things or hobbies.

The first ten people passed the round smoothly. Landing on the different numbers on the squares. Some are reward squares, three out of ten people reap the benefits. For a limited time of thirty minutes, these three people get to enjoy a boost of strength and speed.

The eleventh, twelveth and thirteenth person landed on the sixth square. The eleventh person was a young woman with a ponytail. When she step inside, a small purple snake egg appeared in front of her.

There was no announcement and the Alpha Snake Beast did not say anything. So the young woman did not think much about it. The other two people, a middled aged woman with curly hair tied in a bun and a chubby young man landed on the sixth, following after her.

The moment the three gathered, a loud beep rang five times before the grid of the square danced with bright colors.

[The first level battle squares have been triggered. In the next ten minutes, whoever grabs the snake egg will stay in the game while the other two will be eliminated by the giant snake.]

At once, the atmosphere dropped tremendously. The young woman, the middled aged woman and the chubby man stared at each other in horror.

[When a person possessed the egg, they will be given superb strength to take down their enemies.]

A timer immediately appeared above their heads.

For ten seconds, the three people were too shocked to move. Their mind could not process what they are supposed to do.

"If the timer reaches 9 minutes and none of you moved, all three of you humans will be eliminated." The Alpha Snake Beast warn with his usual cold voice.

This slapped the three challengers awake.

The first to move is the chubby man. He directly shoved the middle aged woman and leap towards the snake egg.

"It's mine!!!" He shouted hoarsely. But the Snake Egg is a foot away from the young woman. Before the chubby man could take another step, she quickly used her foot to pull the Snake Egg to herself.

By the time the chubby reached in front of her, it was already too late. She took ownership of the Snake Egg and managed to get the strength boost.

"Give it to me!!!" Still, the chubby man doesn't want to give up. He still fought for the Snake Egg. His chubby hand stretched widely and grip the young woman's frail wrists.

"Let me go!!!"

"Give me the egg!!!"

"No!!"

"Hand it over or I will break your arms! Don't expect me to be merciful little girl -" The chubby man could not finish what he has to say.

The young woman was annoyed at him and use her elbow to hit the man in the nose. With the boost of strength, this move break many small bones on the chubby man's face.

His face was badly disfigured. His nose, mouth and ears are bleeding badly. Some of his front teeth drop from his gums. It littered on his front clothes, covering his chest with his own blood.

"You despicable wench!" Despite being badly disfigured, the chubby man can still speak. His words were very difficult to understand because of his rough and hoarse voice but he was able to deliver his resentment towards the other party.

The young woman shivered being stared at by the chubby man.

"If you don't kill him, he will get up and kill you." The Alpha Snake Beast carelessly speak. His voice may be cold and he might seem uninterested but the excitement burning in his eyes could not be hidden.

The young woman gulped. She stepped forward and grab the chubby man at the collar. Her hand is visibly trembling. She's only in her twenties and just finished taking the university exam. She only know how to hold a pen and book. She only did nothing but study very seriously.

She never knew how to kill a person!

This hesitation lasted for forty seconds.

And a lot can happen in forty seconds.

The attention of the crowd was on the young woman, nobody noticed what the middle aged woman was doing. Since their main focus is on the person who possessed the Snake Egg.

The young woman was also stimulated by the Alpha Beast Snake's words and ignored the other person. As a result, she did not noticed the middle aged woman had sneaked up behind her and struck!

A sharp knife is now protruding on her throat. The snake egg was taken from her hand.
