Chapter 24

“Ellie Blizzard.”

I blink myself awake and look around quickly. We’re all back in the hall.

“Eyes forward!”

The sharp sound of wood landing heavily on wood echoes through the room, as I slowly face the wolf in front of me.

My heart is pounding in my chest. Something on my face is making it hard to breathe. This only makes it harder to breathe, naturally.

“You stand accused of dark magic.”

What?!

My protests are muffled against my restraints. And then it dawns on me, as my ears twitch in anger.

I was muzzled while I was unconscious.

What dark magic are they talking about?

I hear several voices behind me mutter in suspicion. How dare they! I was responsible for raising many of their pups.

And this is how they repay me?

Backstabbers, the lot of them.

“Your actions nearly cost the lives of several of the pack.”
