Chapter 7

"What was that about?" Ava asked Seth as she stormed into his office.

She slammed her hand on his desk, as she demanded answers.

"Eugene is dead!" Seth said in a low tone.

His words struck Ava's chest, she felt heavy inside. Her eyes wide opened, and she collapsed on the chair as she tried searching for words.

Ava was with Eugene yesterday, he brought her to Seth's office with a big smile on his face.

"Angela killed him!"

Ava squeezed the chair handle and has Angela's name ringing in her head. Ava felt a cold chill down her spine as she realized that Angela might want to take her down next, she looked at Seth, summoning courage.

"What are we going to do?" Ava asked Seth with concern.

"We have a meeting with Essie Chan," Seth said as he sat up straight, "His family is one of the wealthiest families in Hong Kong"

"So where do we meet him?"

"Hong Kong!" Seth said as he placed two tickets on the desk.

"Two tickets?"

"Is there a problem with that?" Seth asked.

"What about Macy?"

"She will be alright, I need you to tell her the situation we are in, then she can stay in my safe house downtown" Seth signed as he licked his lips. "She'll be safer there, I have men around the perimeter!"

"Okay!" Ava said, feeling relieved:

"You're in some deep shit!" Macy said as she parked her bags. Ava explained the situation and Macy understood everything perfectly, she felt sad that Eugene is dead.

"I miss that pervert!" She hesitated, "Always admiring my butt, thinking I won't notice" Macy blushed as she thought of Eugene.

Ava was lost in thought, she was going to Hong Kong to meet the heir of a wealthy family. It's only been two days and everything was happening so fast – Angela a psycho billionaire on the loose, for whatever reason, she's not only after Ava's company.

Ava was done packing her bag as she sat on the bed, taking a deep breath.

"It's going to be alright!" Macy said as she sat close to Ava, giving her a tap on the shoulder.

"How are you so calm?" Ava couldn't help but ask, Macy had a smile on her face, but she was frightened. She acts as if she got her shit together, but honestly, she felt like screaming.

"I just know how to adapt to situations, that's all" She lied.

"Promise me you'll be safe!" Ava holds Macy's hand as she made her promise.

Seth sent someone to pick them up, as they walked out of Macy's apartment. The gentleman rushed over to carry the luggage.

"Fancy!" Macy said as she admired the car.

The car was silent, Macy was wondering what the safe house will look like as she stare out the window. Ava was also nervous, she wonders when everything will go back to normal – lost in her thoughts, the driver stopped the car.

"Your ride is here, Ms. Ava!" The driver said.

Ava looked out the window and saw Seth in a BMW, she hugged Macy one last time as she said her goodbyes.

The driver revved the engine as soon as Ava left, he drove for thirty minutes down a path filled with trees. It was like a rainforest, the trees covered the sun, and the birds are singing their lullabies.

Macy closed her eyes as she enjoyed the ride, the driver played country music, and she nods her head to the rhythm as it soothes her soul.

The car slowed down, reaching the gate to the safe house, after a security check, they were let in.

The safe house was a massive mansion, close to the waters, it's surrounded by trees and flowers. The flower's fragrance filled the air and gave it a beautiful aroma.

Macy's eyes lit up as she saw the building, "Is this a safe house or heaven?" She whispered to herself. The driver kept a smile on his face as he opened the door for Macy.

"Thank you," She said, stepping out.

The housekeeper came and welcomed her, taking her on a tour around the house. It was beautiful and quiet.

"Hey!" A voice came up.

Macy was a bit frightened as she saw an old man walking towards her.

"Hi?" She waved her hands.

"You're not what I expected," He said scanning her body, "But I'll see what I can do"

"Huh?" She was completely lost and thought the old man has some screws loose.

"I am sensei Yen!" He hesitated "I was ordered by the master to train you until your stay here is due," He said looking Macy straight in the eyes.

"What!!!" Macy was dumbfounded, she thought this was going to be a peaceful vacation in a lovely house.

"You're up against an enemy, you must be ready for combat!" He hesitated as he turned his back, "Training starts tomorrow"!

The housekeeper showed Macy her room, she was still processing what sensei Yen said.

"Ready for combat, huh?" She sat on the bed and wondered how Ava was doing.

Ava and Seth arrived in Hong Kong, it was a beautiful city this time of the year, and the people were preparing to celebrate The Dragon Boat Festival. The people of China hold that the festival commemorates the death of the poet and minister, Qu Yuan.

The Dragon Boat Festival is a celebration where many eat zongzi, known as rice dumplings, drink realgar wine, and race dragon boats.

Ava was amazed by the decorations, the streets were crowded, and the crowd was slowly pulling Ava away from Seth. He held her hand.

"Stay close!" He whispered in her ear, as her face turned red.

His hands were warm, his presence made her feel safe, and she never wants to let go. Ava wrapped her hands around Seth's arm, he glanced at her, and she giggled like a little girl.

They walked for some minutes, reaching a hotel, the name spelled out in Chinese. Seth tried reading it, but he gave up and went in anyway.

"I would like a reservation!" He said to the receptionist.

"Qu Yuan must be with you" She smiled "There's just one room left, perfect for couples" She typed into her computer.

Seth's face turned red, he was about to speak, but the receptionist stretched out the keys.

"That's 21,731 Yuan," She said with a big smile on her face.

Seth let out a sigh, has he paid for the room.

The room was quite fancy, the bed was kinged sized, and the floor was filled with roses. The lullaby on the desk played a slow song, Ava sat on the bed and stared at Seth, who was taking off his jacket.

"Hope you don't snore?" He asked in a mocking tone.

"Oh I do, I'll keep you up all night" She lied as she laughed a little bit.

Seth was well-mannered, he doesn't look like a person that will force himself on her, sometimes she wonders if he finds her attractive, or if he was just gay.

Seth rested his head on the pillow as he stared at the ceiling, Essie Chan isn't someone that will invite him to China just to have a chat. Ava sat on the bed as she dried her hair, her pajamas were beautiful, and he could tell she wasn't wearing any panties.

Ava kept a baseball bat close to the bed, she found it on the balcony, turns out someone forgot it there.

"What's that for?" Seth asked as he saw her keeping the bat on the side of the bed.

"In case you try anything funny!" She lied.

Seth chuckled.

Macy was on the bed trying to meditate, she kept hearing laughter coming from the garden. She stood up to take a peep, it was a little girl playing with butterflies. Macy smiled as she saw the girl having so much fun.

The little girl turned her head and saw Macy from the window, she waved, and Macy waved back as she closed the curtains.

She was bored in the room – so she went down to meet the little kid.

"Hii?" Macy greeted as she walked into the garden.

"Hello" The girl smiled as she continued to play with the butterflies.

Macy joined her, they both played with butterflies and got bored. Sitting down on the grass, watching the wind blow through the trees, the sun was setting.

"You're my dad's friend?" The girl asked, looking at Macy.

"Your dad?" Macy asked, looking confused, "Who's your dad?"

"Seth." She said.

Macy was dumbfounded, Seth has a daughter, and she couldn't find the right words to say.

"Oh yes. I'm Macy" Macy said, giving her a warm smile.

"I'm Claire," Claire said as she smiled back at Macy.
