Yet, when she opened her mouth to speak, she sounded arrogant. Whitney could not help but remember her father. He also sounded this way in the neighbourhood. "Secretary" Whitney immediately identified her. She was just like her father in the past. A secretary in one of the branches of Kevin's legitimate business. they had no real relationship with the Boss, but they were respected just for being able to meet Kevin Smart
"Yes," one of the men answered. He was no longer so cold, and Whitney noticed his respectful attitude towards the woman.
The lady picked up her phone and made a call. "The Warmer girls are here," she said as soon as the other side of the line was connected.
"Send them in," the person on the other side said and ended the call.
The lady got up, "follow me," she instructed. The two men pushed Whitney and Grace toward the door. Once the door was opened, they stepped aside, not daring to enter or look into the office. The two sisters were scared out of their wit. Even Whitney could not help but look at her toes. She was scared that if she looked without permission, she might die without knowing how.
" Leave," a cold voice said. Whitney was yet to look up, but she shivered at the sound of the voice.
"Yes sir," the Secretary, who sounded so arrogant some minutes ago fled. Whitney Still had her head lowered so she could not see her face, but she could sense fear in the Secretary's voice.
Whitney found the situation funny, but she could not laugh after all her fate was still uncertain. Meanwhile, Grace was holding on tight to her hands. Whitney could feel the pain but did not shake her off.
This pain seems to remind her of the huge responsibility that her father had left behind.
"Thinking of how bold Mr Warmer is, I did not expect his daughters to be chickens," the voice that spoke this time was warmer, and it seems to carry with it charms that draw the listener in. Hearing the man curse at her late father, Whitney bit the bullet and raced her head. She had been dying of curiosity for such a long time now.
Anyway, since she was already in his den, her fate was sealed but today was the day her father was buried, and she could not stand him being insulted.
Whitney's jaw dropped open when she finally met the devil incarnate. Elegantly standing by the window at end of the room. A man 6.3 fit tall, with golden eyes that shine like the sun. Whitney did not dare look at his eyes. she just noticed the colour in the passing. It was more accurate to say that his eyes had a way of drawing people in. His long hair neatly dropped on his broad shoulders, complimenting his well-defined face and even his smirk smile looked attractive. Broad chest, elegantly dressed in a grey suit and his right hand shoved in his pocket.
Whitney had a keen sense of observation, so she was able to notice so much in such a short time. "Why was his look so different from my imagination?" She wondered as she immediately lowered her eyes, not daring to look at him again. seeing the way he stared at her she felt like a pry, at the mercy of her predictor.
Whitney knew this was not the right time to admire a man, but she could not help herself. She was just a young woman who appreciated beautiful people and even if Kevin was the Devil, the man was gorgeous. "Beauty is indeed deadly," she could not help but think in this direction.
"Why has no one ever talked about his outstanding appearance? The villains in movies were usually not so good-looking. But thinking about it again, only a few people have met the man in person.
Well, Maybe he was really the devil; after all, the holy book did describe the devil as beautiful, right? Whitney comes to a conclusion. But her mind could not wonder for too long, at least not when she could feel her predictor's gaze on her.
The man standing by the Window looked in the direction of the two ladies. His smirk grew darker as his eyes fell on Whitney, who tried to act bold. If only he knew she was lusting after his look, he would have plucked out her eyes. When people saw him, they felt fear. "Which one was sick?" Kevin asked in his domineering voice that sent a shiver through the sisters' spin.
The charm from the voice earlier was gone. If Whitney was not good with distinguishing voices, she would never have believed it was the same person speaking.
Grace shivered when she heard this question and unconsciously tightened her grip on Whitney for support or protection. Whitney sighed in pain, it was very low, but Kevin heard it. He saw the look of indifference on her face.
The more she appeared so stubborn, the more he had the urge to deal with her. Whitney did not know that her strong front was creating more trouble for her. She knew with the death of their father, it was her duty to protect her sister. So how could she show any weakness? All she thought about was protecting her sister. As long as one of them could step out alive and take care of their brother, it should be fine.
Mustering all her courage together, Whitney asked, "what do you want?" It would be stupid to jump into the water without knowing how deep it was.
She was not sure if the man was looking for the sick one to release or punish, so she tried to ask. Only by confirming his thoughts would she be able to protect her sister.
Kevin was stunned at her question. No one has ever dared to question him. He was used to asking questions and getting answers. A glint of Interest flashed through his eye, but it was immediately covered by coldness. His subordinates were also shocked. One of them snapped out of it and was about to give Whitney a resounding slap when Kevin gestured for him to stop.
This was also the first time that Whitney noticed that they were two other men in the room apart from Kevin. She shivered inwardly and took a deep breath seeing that she managed to dodge the slap. "Fortunately, he still had a bit of humanity," Whitney was relieved in her heart. how powerful would these two be for her not to have noticed their presence even after being in the room for so long,
she could not help but think of those assassins that she watched in the movie; the victims were always taken by surprise, not noticing their presence until the last minute.
No matter how cold he has become, Kevin will never hurt a woman, at least not physically. There are many ways to kill a rat without shading blood. His lips curved into a mischievous smile when he got the craziest idea.
"I want my money," Kevin answered with a hint of sarcasm. He knew they would not be able to pay him back, but since she wanted to play, he did not mind playing along.
The subordinates were stunned again, 'since when did their boss answer the question of others?' They both had the same question in mind.
Whitney bites her lower lips. She obviously could not afford to pay it back. A few months ago she thought that her sister would die when she suffered from kidney failure. The type that matched hers{Grace}, was not common and getting a donor became a problem. Even her kidney and that of her father did not match, the person that would be able to donate should have been their mother, but she had been dead for over six years.
When they first discovered Grace's sickness, Mrs Warmer was already pregnant; at that time, the doctors thought that they would be able to help her manage it without the transplant, but years later, the situation became worst, and a new kidney became the only way out.
Later Mr Warmer found out about a source on the darknet, but the price was high. Even if he sold everything he had, he would be unable to get it. As the days went by, Grace's chances of survival became smaller. How could a father watch as his child died? He decides to take a loan from the devil.
Everyone knew that Mr Warmer would not be able to pay back the twenty million, but their father was willing to sell himself to pay back. but shortly after her sister recovered, he had an unfortunate accident and died.
'Today was the day he was buried. This man could not even wait for the ceremony to be over before he kidnapped them and asked for his money. Sure enough, the only good thing about this man was his beautiful face. What kind of a person asked his debtor to pay their debts even while mourning? Could he not at least, give them a few days to mourn their loss.' Whitney complained in her heart.
