The Deviate's Phantom System

'Ruin the natural environment and you'll take the living organism out of its natural, healthy habitat. It will desperately accept deviations in its life-or-death struggle to survive. It will become a deviate before it surrenders to extermination...' This, was the advanced idea of Duke Priester—when he was still publicly and generally accepted as the world's most ingenious biotechnologist. And he had 'The Priester Labs' which was one of the greatest and highly ranked infrastructure/laboratory in the world at the time, to his name. Then, fresh out of college as the best graduating student in the whole department and being the only child of extremely wealthy parents, he'd pooled enough resources to build the first ever science lab in Haveiton and the world at large to touch the skies, both figuratively and literally. This very building was the center of attention for the super powers all over the world due to the advanced tech himself and his other employees created and just like that, he became one of the most influential and famous men in the world. Duke's mind worked faster and smarter than most human's. It was a blessing at first, but eventually, it became a curse. His unsurpassed greed fuelled ravenously by the desire for even more fame and glory made him begin to imagine the 'impossible.' And what happens when you begin to imagine a particular thing repeatedly? You swing into action in an attempt to carry it out. This was what Duke Priester did. What did he do? What was the effect it had on the world, including parallel universes? How was he going to atone for his sins? And would he be ready to sacrifice what he loved the most to finally be able to truly say 'I'm free?'

No Phantom Energy

When Hall was certain they were gone, he sat up on the bed slowly and began taking in deep breaths. His plan was to familiarize himself once again, with the Phantom energy.

Placing his hands on his thighs, he closed his eyes and began the process. After a few minutes of trying and failing to feel Phantom energy around him, he came to a shocking conclusion.

There was no Phantom Energy here!

This realization came with a lot of questions he simply had no certain answers to. The best he could do, was to guess.

The first thought that appeared in his mind was that the goddess actually fucked with him. He could just imagine her looking down on him, smirking her lips in absolute mockery.

That thought made him extremely angry.

What kind of world exactly did she dump him in, and what exactly was her plan for all this? He didn't know. If he wanted, he could probably get his answers right now by picking the scissors on the vanity by the bed and stabbing himself in the heart.

But there was the possibility that he would never be able to return back to this world or the one he'd left.

'I'm giving you one more chance to accept my offer.'

Those were her words weren't it?

Besides, he had no desire to quit this world just yet. Not like this. Hall saw his present predicament as a challenge, and he was determined to come out on top, this time around.

Although in his past life, he was acquainted only with the Phantom energy in respect to activating and using skills and techniques, he was certain he could work with the Pure energy instead until he could finally sense Phantom energy again.

'You thought you could transmigrate me with an handicap? Hmph!'

And so, closing his eyes, Hall repeated the process of sensing the energy around him.

In a few minutes, a white aura surrounded his whole body, causing the air within the room to become heavy. Since this would be the first time Duke would be familiarizing himself with the white energy, he maintained total concentration as he allowed the aura to fill up and flow through his body. Keeping in mind that this would also be the first time Hall's body would experience such a feeling.

Immediately he was done and he opened his eyes—which glowed silk white—the air normalized and notifications appeared.

[Congratulations on familiarizing yourself with Pure Energy!]

[Skills have been unlocked!]

[+20Xp] [+2 Phantom points]

'Hoh?' Hall thought and immediately opened the [Skills] tab.

[Skills]

•Basic Energy Control (Passive)

Mastery Percentage: 100%

*Allows user to sense and use Pure Energy*

•Sense (Passive)

*Enhances user's five senses*

Current Enhancement Level: 20%

•Reveal

*Allows user to inspect any person or object and general information will be displayed*

°Only limited to current level of user°

Hall smirked after browsing through the [Skills] tab. Of course his mastery of energy control would be 100%. He could be called a genius in the area of energy control, perhaps because of the experiment he'd carried out on himself in his former life.

As for [sense] he could already feel the enhancement despite it just being a mere 20%. He also understood the [Reveal] skill despite only seeing it for the first time.

So for now, there was nothing special about him apart from his great affinity to energy. But he swore to himself that he was going to change that with his own hands.

"Stats, and exclude the Phantom stats for now please." Hall said.

[Status]

Name: Hall Ramon

Now, after seeing his stats, Hall felt oddly satisfied. Finally he was getting somewhere.

He distributed his Phantom points like so.

[Endurance: 5+1]

[Agility: 6+1]

He decided he wanted his stats to be on equal grounds for now, until he understood the outside world.

Sighing, he lied back on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

Just as he began to wonder when the doctor would come to remove the bandages, the door opened and a tall man donning a white coat walked in.

He had his stethoscope hung around his neck and in his left hand was a white briefcase where his medical kits were. He had a 'modern doctor' air around him and he looked like a true professional.

His name was Greg and he was the family's personal doctor. However, he did this without pay. This was on his own volition, based on the history his family and the Ramon's had together.

Regardless, the professionalism he'd come with flew out the window at the sight in front of him.

Immediately he entered and hall noticed him, Hall sat up on the bed, then stood up before proceeding to stretch himself.

"Oi. What took you so long? Hurry up and take off these bandages." Hall said crisply.

"Eh?"
