As I brushed the dirt off my clothes and got my bearings, I couldn't help but chuckle. "Of all the things we could fall into, it had to be a pit trap. Classic."
Seraphine glared at me, but the corners of her mouth twitched upward. "Oh, you find this amusing, do you?"
"Well, it's not every day we get to test our escape artist skills," I replied, trying to lighten the mood.
"Alright, Houdini," she said, rolling her eyes. "Any bright ideas on how we get out of here?"
I looked around the pit, noting the roots dangling from the sides and the muddy walls. "How about we climb? These roots look sturdy enough."
Seraphine raised an eyebrow. "Sturdy enough for you, maybe. But I'm not exactly lightweight."
I gave her a playful shove. "Come on, we can do it together. Teamwork, remember?"
With a sigh, Seraphine nodded. "Fine. But if we fall again, I'm blaming you."
"Deal," I said, grinning.
