Hours earlier, Lai Mingjie and Xu Rouguang were about to go the grocery downstairs. However, Xu Rouguang suddenly slipped away from his company and requested for a couple of hours to deal with things. Lai Mingjie knew that he had felt the surge of auras by then... especially when Zhenye's exploded not long after.
Instead of panicking, Lai Mingjie was only waiting outside their building, seated on the bus stop next to their high-rise condominium. Soon, he felt the symphony of bursting auras far from their home. He could see the sky which hid the sparkles of the immortals' attacks, but he knew that a fierce battle was happening in the distance.
He used to be so scared of these. Right now, he could watch on without expression... only worried about Xu Rouguang. He was the deathless general for a reason, but it didn't mean he didn't feel pain.
"You're calm today."
Lai Mingjie turned to his side and gave her a wry smile. "Jingjing, you're so out of sight; are you even doing your job?"
