Anticipated Meal

There was a safe in the room. It was so similar to the one in her room. She had never been able to open the safe till date, since she was given the room.

But this was easy to open so she retrieved the contents. There was a newspaper and a letter.

A page of a newspaper in fact. The contents of the newspaper were faded due to deprivity of air and enclosure.

'Evil lurks within the society' some highlighted words said but she didn't pay to heed to them and proceeded to open the faded letter which only read 'I love you and Am sorry Izan'.

Izan? Seriously? What a name.

She scoffed a laugh since even if she wanted to laugh and joke about the name Izan she didn't laugh since maybe the letter was a heartbreak love letter. Who knew.

A wave of fatigue washed over her and she approached the comfortable chair and rested decided to rest a while.

Her eyes squinted from the bright light. The world was upside down her hands dangling beside her.

She felt heady and dizzy.

"Where-" she paused studying her environment at a closer look.

Why was the world upside down?

Her question hang in the air but she quickly realized she was outside and the sun was shining bright above her.

Her breath caught in her chest when she felt an arm draped around the back of her thighs and someone's butt in front of her sight.

"Where do you need to travel to sir?"

"Nefeli?" he asked his voice bellowing below her in his chest. It's vibrations making the sound, sound more deeper.

A shiver skided through her whole being then he froze. She could feel his muscles turn rigid.

"Yes yes, am actually headed there get in here" the dealer or whoever that was responded quickly.

She sighed happy that she hadn't left home. There were still in Nefeli, luckily. What would she have done if she were lost?

But how did they leave the room and what happened to the corpse or whatever he was?

Or maybe he was the one carrying her...

She gasped and thrashed making the man carrying her to respond by dropping her to her feet.

She scanned the area with squinted eyes, it was a small town, actually, village. The dealer who had been speaking to them earlier was beside her but his head was hidden inside the small carriage's entrance.

Her gaze finally fell on the man who had been carrying her. Her eyes wide as saucers as she took a step back to make sure her sight was working fine.

Why was he so handsome and was he not a corpse earlier?

"You're supposed to be dead?" she asked the question more to herself rather than him.

"Who said am supposed to be dead?" he asked taking a step closer but she took another back.

If not for the fear of the man who was looking at her with those black scary orbs that she'd earlier inspected, she would have fallen weak in the knees due to his dark, deep sensual voice and handsome beautiful face.

"Do not move an inch I have to check on something" he ordered then quickly glanced warily at the dealer.

She squeaked when he left her side in speed that made air leave her lungs.

"Ok Sir, you can fit in here and your wife should-" the dealers was finally out of the carriage smiling wide with his abnormally sharp canines and almost black eyes.

The dealer smiled at her eerily his eyes darknening, the more she stared directly at his eyes the more allured she felt to walk closer to him and offer herself to him as some sacrifice which was the most absurd thought that had ever had crossed get mind.

"I know you can feel it pretty human just accept the allure and come with daddy"

At the mention of Daddy, her confused thoughts turned mushed but back to normal.

She needed to go back home to her mother and brother and sister and father. This was the one last time so why had she strayed from the rest of the scholars? And lastly,

Why were a couple of people from inside the carriage walking out and offering her soft but hungry smiles?

"She's a human"

"It's been long since a had a taste of one and she reeks of deliciousness"

She heard them say and took a million steps away from them in her mind but physically she was rooted to the ground.

'Run Neera, Run' the warning was clear was in her head.

She turned and quickly looked for a way of escape. On her right was a river and on her left was a Forest.

Which was safer? The river right? since she could just jump in and swim away but...

She turned and ran to her left. The Forest and had reasoned that obviously the water might have some dangerous sea creatures and she didn't know if the humans chasing her or whatever they were,, if they could swim faster than she could since she wasn't a top swimmer.

Her legs weren't as strong as she thought, they still felt feeble.

What was this place?

"Catch that human!" the dealer shouted from behind her. They were not so far from her position and they were not actually running so she wasn't doing anything.

"Pretty girl, you're headed for a dead end just stop and give us a sip" a cruel laugh followed after the statement.

Her heart thumped in her heart making her feel as if her chest was being banged literally.

"She smells so nice" she stumbled at that tripping on the muddy forest floor. The forest wasn't all thick, green and a breath of fresh air like a typical rainforest.

It was scarce, dry and looked like a horrific nightmare that she wanted to run away from.

The trées were dry and had protruding roots from the ground, that was the sole reason why she'd tripped bruising her elbows and knees.

She quickly gathered herself up ready to sprint into a run but seems like she wasn't quick enough. An arm groped her arm harshly pushing her against one of the rough barks of the tree.

Her feet dangled as the man's hand wrapped around her neck. He didn't hurt her but his eyes gleamed as they met with hers.

She looked up only to be met but anticipating black gleaming eyes.

She thrashed against his hold but the bark of the tree bit into her skin bruising her skin so she stilled.

"Our heavily anticipated meal, Rico will love this" the man hissed almost spitting on her face. She couldn't speak as her consciousness evaded her senses and she fell into slumber.
