The Deathless Ones

With the introduction of a new vaccine to combat the Corona virus, the whole world finally started going back to normal. The quarantine was scrapped, travel bans were lifted and offices, malls and theatres all over the globe started opening up. Things were looking especially good for Ray until a deadly new strand of COVID-19 forced the world to go into lockdown once again. But little did Ray know that the lockdown would be the least of his worries. The mutated virus has started to transform their hosts into deranged monsters with only one thing on their mind: Human Flesh. Will Ray, who has lived most of his life playing video games on his computer, be able to survive this increasingly dangerous new world all the while protecting the ones he loves most? Hide-and-seek

(Ray)

Both groups crouched in front of the C block basement doorway, carefully watching the Deathless that meandered about in the parking lot. Ray studied the area in front of him with keen eyes. The basement looked very different from what he had seen just the previous day. The main reason for that being the considerably fewer Deathless in the vicinity.

Ray figured that there was probably more of them deeper into the basement but the ones in plain sight didn't seem to be too great in number to pose a threat. Especially now that their own numbers had essentially doubled.

"Alright," Ray started, "We'll cover more ground if we spread out. Stay in groups of twos. Leon, were you able to find a picture of your dad?"

"Uhh—yeah," Leon said, raising his phone so the screen faced them, "That's him." He told Sheila's group.

"Hmm…" said Sheila as she wrapped her hand around Leon's wrist and pulled it closer.
