Chapter 252: Another Christmas Eve

Snowflakes danced outside the window, falling on the frozen glass. Christmas was just around the corner, and the busy Anderson family was preparing for Christmas Eve.

In the living room, the classic Western Christmas song "White Christmas" played in the background. With the help of Grandpa Luke, Nia attempted to hang the largest star on top of the Christmas tree. Shana and Daisy were busy in the kitchen preparing the main course and desserts for the evening, while Albert and Herbert brought out delicious dishes to the dining table.

The dinner was filled with laughter and songs. The TV played Christmas programs, and there was still a fair amount of food left on the table, especially the famous roasted turkey.

Although not everyone was fond of such food, it was still a tradition to have roasted turkey on the Christmas dinner table. The Andersons ate it every year, regardless of whether it was good or not. It was a tradition, and that's what they were celebrating.

In comparison, Christmas pudding and Christmas cake were more popular choices for dessert after the meal.

Albert enjoyed a glass of hot wine. The first sip was quite ordinary, but the more he drank, the better it tasted, and the warmer he felt. It was perfect for drinking on a snowy day.

As a member of the family, the chubby cat Tom also had its own dinner—a big piece of special salmon. The roasted fish seemed to ignite Tom's appetite more than canned cat food. By the way, there were signs that this guy was still gaining weight.

Now, after having his fill, Tom was lying on the couch, letting Albert groom its fur.

"Do vampires really exist in this world?" Nia asked curiously after listening to Luke read the story of "Travelling with Vampires."

"They probably do. However, I haven't encountered any. If you come across them, it's best to stay away, regardless of whether they have good intentions or not." Albert retrieved Tom, who was trying to sneak away, and gently played with the cat's ears.

"Rohart is really brave." Nia admired the protagonist of the story.

"In the novel, Rohart is indeed brave, but you need to distinguish between fiction and reality. After all, ninety-nine percent of these things are fictional." Albert winked at Nia, reminding her, "Just like fairy tales—they're all lies!"

"Hey, don't ruin the mood." Nia couldn't help but protest. "Is Hogwarts fun? Our school is so boring. The students there seem a bit silly, and the boys like to act cool, even though they're all a bunch of idiots."

"You shouldn't say that about others." Herbert chided, "If you feel that way, it's probably because you're smarter than them." He smiled contentedly; he was very satisfied with his children—very satisfied indeed.

"They really are quite foolish." Nia pouted and complained, "They always talk about random things, even though they don't know anything. They're a bunch of fools."

"Don't make yourself look too different. You should learn to protect yourself." Albert kindly reminded her.

"I could learn karate or taekwondo." Nia waved her fists, saying, "If anyone dares to bully me, I'll knock them out like Albert does."

"Girls shouldn't be so violent." Daisy glanced slightly displeased at her son. It was all his fault for setting a bad example for Nia.

"Cough, cough. I think learning some self-defense skills isn't a bad idea. At least you can protect yourself from being bullied." Albert cleared his throat and quickly changed the subject, "By the way, I made a protective amulet for you. Consider it your Christmas gift."

"You should've given it to me on Christmas." Nia examined the small ornament curiously and asked, "Is this the legendary unicorn? But it's so small."

"Because it's a pendant, a protective amulet." Albert explained.

"Is it effective?" Herbert was even more curious about the amulet's effects, knowing that Albert could perform magic on small objects.

"Just treat it like a pendant with the same significance as a cross. Besides, don't you find it quite exquisite?" Albert reminded them. "Carving this took quite a bit of time."

"By the way, when did you learn wood carving? We had no idea."

"I learned it at school."

"Hogwarts actually teaches that?" Herbert was very surprised.

"They don't. But you can learn on your own." Albert explained helplessly.

"Give a girl you like a wood carving, and you might receive an unexpected surprise! I remember you were always popular." Herbert seemed to recall something and suddenly said, "I remember you were quite popular."

"Really?" Albert's face twitched slightly, not quite sure what to say.

"I wish I could receive a Hogwarts invitation next year," Nia whispered to herself. "Then I could go to Hogwarts too."

"Even if you can't go, after I graduate, I can take you to experience the magical world. But if you're not a wizard, it's best not to linger too much in the magical world. It's not a good idea. Muggles have their own kind of happiness."

"Do you still remember computers?"

"I know a bit about them." Nia nodded.

"In a few years, electronic devices will become more advanced. Phones and computers will become more advanced as well. The era of electronics is coming." Albert explained softly, "The magical world lags far behind in this aspect. Magic seems to interfere with electronics, so the magical world's technology is quite outdated. The only thing I know of so far is magically modified radios."

"The magical world still uses very old-fashioned records. After I graduate, I plan to have my own house here."

"I thought you would live in the wizarding world!" Daisy looked very pleased. She didn't want her son to live in the magical world. If he suddenly disappeared for ten or twenty years without contacting her, she wouldn't be able to handle it.

"Are you planning to work here?" Herbert suddenly asked.

"No, actually, with magic, making money becomes quite easy. Like winning a big prize in the lottery, for example." Albert winked at Herbert and smiled, "Wizards have a profession called Seer. A talented Seer can foresee parts of the future, so naturally, they can predict the winning numbers for the lottery."

"Okay, I was just joking earlier. Winning the lottery does indeed bring in money quickly, but accurate prophecies usually require a certain talent. Becoming a skilled Seer isn't something you can achieve solely through effort." Albert explained jokingly, "Right now, I can only use a basic form of divination called as Niseishi Divination."

"Is it accurate?" Nia seemed quite interested in divination.

"I don't know." Albert said uncertainly, "I've only started learning, so it might not be very accurate."

"Try doing a divination for me."
