Chapter 212: Success

Snape's private storeroom was located within his office. If Albert were to barge into the office directly, it would likely alert Snape. Typically, the living quarters of Hogwarts professors were adjacent to their offices, and even if Snape was asleep, barging in directly would still be unwise.

Albert's original plan was to lure Snape away and steal the ingredients from his office while the Weasley twins created a diversion. However, after taking Felix Felicis, his first instinct was to go to Greenhouse Three and steal a pot of Mandrake.

Why did he want to steal a pot of Mandrake?

Albert himself didn't really know, but that's what his intuition told him after taking the Felix Felicis, so he decided to head to Greenhouse Three first.

It was night, and the Hogwarts castle gates had already been closed. However, that couldn't stop Albert. He used the secret passage on the third floor to leave the castle.

The rain outside had stopped, but the air was still damp and cold.

Albert tightened his cloak and before stepping out of the secret passage, he used a Transfiguration spell to create boot covers, avoiding leaving traces of muddy boots on the ground.

The boathouse was quite a distance from the greenhouse, and Albert hastened his steps towards it. Everything went smoothly. When he arrived at the entrance of the greenhouse, he easily unlocked the door that had been sealed with an anti-Alohomora spell. Before entering the greenhouse, Albert waved his wand and conjured a light ball, dispersing the darkness inside.

The plants cultivated in Greenhouse Three were all dangerous, so Albert was extremely cautious. He carefully avoided the dangerous plants and made his way to the corner where the flowerpots were placed.

Albert was familiar with these plants. After all, he had repotted the Mandrakes earlier that morning. He once again waved his wand and charmed the flowerpot, making it levitate behind him.

Before leaving, Albert also took a pair of brown earmuffs from a nearby box.

Why did he need the earmuffs?

Albert felt that they might come in handy.

He retraced his steps, returning to the secret passage. Before emerging from the narrow passage, Albert checked the time on his pocket watch and saw that there was still some time before the agreed-upon rendezvous.

"For now, let's put this in the Room of Requirement. After the mission is complete, I'll return it in a couple of days." Albert thought this and was suddenly struck with a crazy idea.

Yes, it was quite crazy.

Albert was well aware of how insane this impulse was.

Still, he decided to act on this wild idea.

With that decision, Albert set his feet in motion and headed towards Snape's office, with the pot of Mandrake floating behind him.

Snape's office was located underground, and Albert had never been there before. But by consulting the Marauder's Map, it wasn't difficult to find the location of Snape's office.

A few minutes later, Albert stood before Snape's office.

The entrance was indeed protected by an anti-Alohomora spell, but that still couldn't stop Albert's wire. Perhaps it was due to the effects of Felix Felicis, but unlocking the door with wire only took a few seconds.

The door creaked open as Albert pushed it gently. He cautiously entered the room, and his gaze fell upon the door to Snape's private storeroom. Albert didn't rush to find the ingredients he needed; instead, he quietly closed the door and took out the earmuffs from his cloak pocket, putting them on. Only after taking these precautions did he carefully make his way towards Snape's bedroom.

And then... Albert made a shocking move. He actually plucked the Mandrake from its pot, and in the next moment, the terrifying cries filled the entire room.

Snape, who was sound asleep, was suddenly awakened by the Mandrake's cries, only to be knocked unconscious by the noise, completely caught off guard.

As Albert stuffed the Mandrake back into its pot, he looked at the completely unconscious Snape and muttered softly, "This is thrilling. Tomorrow, when Snape wakes up, he'll probably think he had a nightmare."

He took out his wand, waved it lightly, and the fallen soil flew back, covering the Mandrake once again.

Albert walked out of the room and approached Snape's bed. He thoughtfully pulled the bedsheet back in place before leaving the room. He then arrived in front of Snape's private storeroom and used the wire to open the lock.

As expected, the alarm went off.

Snape had placed protective magic on his private storeroom. If someone intruded without disabling the spells, it would trigger an alarm, and Snape would be alerted immediately.

However, the alarm was useless this time because Snape was now unconscious. He probably wouldn't wake up until the next morning, completely unaware of what had just happened.

Albert used the Levitation Charm to easily find the Nundu egg, African tree snake skin fragments, and unicorn horn that Snape stored. As for the dragon claw, Albert didn't take it, as it could be bought at the apothecary, albeit at a high price. But that was not a concern; Albert had galleons to spare.

Before long, Snape would discover that someone had stolen his ingredients. So, Albert planned to mislead Snape into thinking that he was preparing to make a complex potion.

Before leaving, Albert glanced at the Marauder's Map. The Mandrake's cry had indeed caused a commotion, but he still had plenty of time. From stunning Snape to opening the private storeroom and taking the three ingredients, it had taken less than a minute, and others hadn't had time to react.

He placed the ingredients into the conjured box and left Snape's office. Before leaving, he relocked the door to the private storeroom and the office.

To quote that phrase: "I leave quietly, just as I came quietly; I wave my sleeve and take away the Nundu egg, African tree snake skin fragments, and unicorn horn."

The Felix Felicis was truly amazing, living up to its name as the Luck Potion.

Albert walked through the underground passageway and occasionally glanced at the Marauder's Map. Felix had already woken up and was about to come to investigate the source of the noise.

It seemed that the two doors had some soundproofing effect.

The two parties nearly passed by each other, and Felix had no chance of noticing Albert under the Disillusionment Charm.

Before others could react, Albert had already reached the eighth floor. He placed the ingredients and the Mandrake back into the Room of Requirement, and then returned to the Gryffindor common room.

Surprisingly, Fat Lady was not there, which was good news for Albert.

Shortly after, the agreed-upon time arrived, and Fred opened the entrance to the common room on time, allowing Albert to enter.

As for the castle that had now descended into chaos behind him, it had nothing to do with Albert.
