Tomas, a catapult expert, instructed them on how to light the provocative machines with torches, after which the catapults began to assault the town with projectiles from their launchers. However, due to the magical nature of their weapons, these bullets did more than just hit their targets and annihilate them; they burst into massive fireballs that could not be extinguished with normal water brigades. Their detonating impact destroyed a 100-foot radius around them. As they burned, they would form an expanding ring of fire that would devour dozens of homes and the people who lived there. It instilled fear into the hearts of the priest and his henchmen as they looked on. Even with the terrible snowfall, their nascent village was engulfed in flames as quickly as the wind had appeared in the sky.
As a result, they did the only thing they could under the circumstances. The demons and their minions swarmed the catapults, overwhelming them with their sheer numbers.
