Chapter 3 School Life

Soon classes started and Seth wasent expecting getting a basic education to be as hard as it is, The classes were hard slow and boring and was nothing but paperwork and people both he wasn't the biggest on either of those, it didn't help that he was falling behind on everything but classes as not being able to go off New Eden property till he finished the Highschool education courses meaning he couldn't earn credits outside of his attendance which only gave him three a day if he attended all the classes for said day. But as morning classes dragged on Seth pulled a storage glass rrechtangle with a metal top and bottom on it he tapped the glass and it lit up showing the time showing lunch would start soon. This thing Seth pulled out was called a screen pad they were given to everyone at New Eden fromwhat Seth knew it was a more advanced cellphone but he never had one of those to begin with so he was happy either way, as Seth put the screen pad away a ring went through the classroom and everyone began to leave. As Seth walked to the mission section like he had sense he started classes to see Mark standing there laughing with some people seth never bothered to learn about, ignoring Mark as best he could Seth looked at the wall that was the board itself showing all avaable missions not expecting anything he could do only to see A mission he could actually do.

Seth smiled and imidiatly tapped on the mission with the screen pad in his pocket its screen lit up asking what time he would be available and he put in afternoon after school courses and sent it to the mission office he left the mission hall smiling. Soon he was standing in line for food in the multifloor cafeteria he grabbed what he wanted paid the two credit fee and went to look for the only person he really know that being Veronica. Seth knew where to go she sat in the same spot the past two days on the second floor next to the window he soon arrived and sat down across from her.

"How were classes" asked Veronica as she looked out the window

"as boring as ever" said Seth the same response he's had the past couple days

There conversation went from a few topics as they ate Seth loved the food mostly because it didn't just taste like seared meat tho he did have a few seasonings in his bus they barley helped, but the food hear always had flavor and a lot of it like what he was eating now it was a White creamy stew with chunks of savory beast meat and savory vegtiables and with it all melting together in his mouth it was by far the best thing he had in his life.Suddenly he felt his screen pad vibrate in his pocket he pulled it out to check it he was to see he was accepted for the ranmch hand mission.

"You seem happy" said Veronica

"yea found a ranch hand mission it goes as long as needed so I'll be set in credits here soon" said Seth

Before Veronica could speak again her own screen pad goes off. Seth could tell she was worried and soon she quickly put it away

"everything ok" asked Seth

"Just a mission" said Veronica

Seth didn't feel as good anymore even with a lot of the people at New Eden need the education he was jelious know that the one person he talks to can go on any mission. But soon lunch was done and then came afternoon classes which like the morning one bored Seth but he mad it through without much problems. The classroom filled with noise as everyone left and Seth went as fast as he could to the security desk in the man lobby to get a shuttle to the ranch.

"hi i need a shuttle to the ranch" said Seth

The guard nodded and began to type on the keyboard in front of him.

"15 minute wait have a good day" said the guard

Seth nodded and stay down not having anything to do he just looked at the massive walled around the building now knowing what could cut down the trees that made it. But as he sat there thinking the shuttle arrived he got on and was on his was to the Ranch. The ride was about ten minutes till he arrived at the ranch it was a four buildings all large and looked similar to the main building of New Eden. As seth walked around looking for someone he heard a deep and low roar panicking he grabbed whatever would work as a weapon and rushed in, only to see three beasts that looked like cattle but were the size of rineos.

"Walkem around yea hear these ones go to slaughter" yelled and older man

"yes sir" replied the three men around the beasts

the older man looked over to see Seth holding a rusted fence post in his hands

"You kid get your ass over here" Yelled the old man

Seth listened and went over to the old man

"Names Rico but you call me chief you hear" said rico as he looked at Seth

"Seth Deken chief I applied this morning" said Seth

"Ah good any experience in ranching" asked Rico

"no the only experience i have is killing beasts" said Seth

"well that's more than nothing" said Rico in a displeased voice

"But i work hard and i can learn" said Seth

"Good you'll be with me today do what i say and you'll be fine" said Rico as he walked away

Seth followed Rico around he showed him the main house which was just a bunk house on steroids, the slaughter house which had those three beasts being led into it, The treatment barn where he first met rico which was wear they made sure nothing was wrong with the beast apart before the slaughter house, and finally the equipment barn which was full of vehicles from atvs to a tri-axel truck with a cage on the back of it. they both got on atv with very few words and rode fence till sunset while Rico explained Seths new day to day, and all Seth wanted was to be on the slaughtering team because at the end of the month they got half of the monster cores they gathered. But the day ended and Seth was bone tired he got on the shuttle almost falling asleep on the way to the main building got off the shuttle got a shower went to his bus turned on the news made some food and looked at his screen pad and saw that he had 40 extra credits to his name he smiled knowing it was the start to something he could be proud of.
