How did it get in?!

It was night time and everyone at the orphanage was fast asleep, including Yuichiro.

The sound of something grating the window suddenly echoed inside Yuichi's room.

"Go away Ava, I still wanna sleep some more." Yuichi spoke in his sleep.

{Wake up.} {Wake up!} {Wake up right now!}

Yuichi immediately opened his eyes and jerked up from his bed, looking anxiously around the dark room as he panted heavily.

"What was that all about?" He muttered to himself as he walked out of the room and headed toward the kitchen.

While he was in the passageway, he spotted Ava, caching at the edge of the wall, close to where the kitchen was.

"Oh, Ava what are you doing up so…".

Before Yuichi could complete his words, Ava immediately ran toward him and covered his mouth with her hands.

"Hmmmm!" Yuichi hummed aggressively, he pushed Ava's hand down and shouted, "What do you do that for?!".

"Sushh!" Ava covered his mouth again with her awareness fixed on the path to the kitchen.

While Yuichi was struggling to free himself, a strange sound suddenly came from the kitchen.

Screeeeehhh!

The sounds reverberated throughout the passage for a while, it kept going for a few minutes as Ava and Yuichi both stood still in hysteria.

"Did you hear that?" Yuichi whispered to Ava.

"Yeah, don't go to the kitchen no matter what! I'll go get Miss Akeno." Ava whispered back before she ran to the last room.

Once Ava was gone, Yuichi's curiosity got the better of him, so he proceeded toward the wall to have a peep.

His eyes widened in fear when he saw a huge Xynoins, taking the shape of a snake with four eyes and wings at its back.

It was standing in the kitchen with its attention focused on the ground in front of him.

Although the kitchen counter was making it difficult for Yuichi to tell what the monster was looking at on the ground, it still didn't change the fear he was feeling at that moment.

'H…How did a Xynoin sneak into the house?' Yuichi surveyed with dread written all over his face as he observed the monster.

The snake Xynoin had not moved an inch from its initial position, its eyes were only fixed on the ground below it.

"Hey!"

Yuichi was startled by Ava's sudden call, he let go of the wall before looking at her, "Don't sneak up on me like that." He whispered, "Where is mom?".

"She's not in her room." Ava responded immediately.

"What do you mean she's not in her room? Did you check the bathroom?" Yuichi asked, looking Ava in the eye while trying to hide the fear he was feeling.

"Look, if we make too much noise, it will pick up on it. I say we get everybody out of the building and get help from the neighbors." Ava expressed her idea.

"And how do you want to do that exactly? The monster is in the kitchen, we need to pass the kitchen to get to the living room." Yuichi explained, "And even if we managed to go out, it's midnight, no one is going to believe a couple of 12 year olds saw a monster… I think".

"I see." Ava uttered with a profound look on her face, "Then what if we pass through the window?".

"That won't work either,..." Yuichi hinted before he went back to peeping at the monster, "Wait, it's doing something." He voiced out.

"What?" Ava also joined him, they both supervised as the Xynoin buried its head behind the counter with a squishy sound following right after.

As soon as the Xynoin raised its head, Akeno's body followed right after with her head right inside the monster's mouth.

Ava and Yuichi's faces were filled with aversion and fear as they watched the monster swallow Akeno whole, leaving only her shoe falling to the ground.

"Mom!" Yuichi cried out, he took to his feet and ran toward the monster but he fell right after Ava held his leg.

"Idiot! Where do you think you're going!" Ava yelled, tears hanging around her eyes.

"Let go of me, dammit! Mom!" Yuichi shouted at the top of his lungs as tears followed down his eyes.

He tried forcing himself on the floor to get to the kitchen, but Ava was tugging just as hard, she didn't want him going there because she knew the monster would most definitely massacre him.

As he crawled Yuichi yelled, "Give her back! Mom! Ahhh! Let me go!".

A sharp turn and the monster was already forced on Yuichi even with half of Akeno's body still sticking out of his mouth.

Chop!

The Xynoin split Akeno in half with its mouth, leaving her lower body to fall to the ground before it sped toward Yuichi and Ava.

After seeing his mother's body get separated in the mouth of the Xynoin, Yuichi shattered completely and became tight-lipped.

Ava picked him up and headed back up before the Xynoin could get to them, "Yuichi!..." She called out with tears in her eyes.

When she saw the look on his face, the look of a kid who was so traumatized that he didn't know how to react to the situation.

She cleaned the tears on her face and grabbed Yuichi's arm before she began racing.

But just when she got a bit further, the door behind her opened and a small girl rushed out of the room with blood on her face and tears falling from her eyes.

"Sister! There's a monster! Monster!" The small girl stood at the entrance of the room crying her eyes out.

Ava and Yuichi immediately stopped running.

"Filo!" Ava called out, but just as she was about to run toward her, the Snake Xynoin showed up.

Like a speeding arrow, the monster dashed through the air, biting off the upper part of the girl's body before it barged into the room with speed.

Ava paused as fear completely took over before she fell to the ground, silent and struck dumb by the shock.

"W…what just happened?" Ava muttered to herself, looking up at the room to hear the cries of the children.

"Not yet, I have to get him out of here." Ava uttered.

She stood up from the ground, only to turn and see another snake Xynoin, standing behind Yuichi with its mouth open.

"Yuichi!" Ava yelled, immediately dashing toward him with speed as she kept falling to the ground.
