"Why would he be bidding for a formation book? He isn't a formation master, and the sect doesn't have a high-rank formation master either?"
"I heard that he has a bad relationship with the store. His son got thrown out of there once."
"1 gold and 40 silver"
"1 gold and 50 silver"
It kept going back and forth until the price was at 3 gold. There was no way that the elder had a use for the book. He wanted Eric to spend a lot of money but Eric wasn't worried. Eric might not have the wealth to rival the Cresent Sect that had stood for centuries, but it was more than enough to crush an elder by a huge margin.
Finally, at the price of 10 gold coins, the bidding ended and Eric got the book.
One of the audience sighed and said "The world of the rich is different. To spend so much for a book, even if it's a formation book, it isn't worth it."
To them, it might not be worth much, but Eric knew that this book would make a lot more money back for him compared to the 10 gold coins he got it for.
In the end, it seemed like Eric only got the formation book, but he got a lot more useful items.
Eric also learned some useful information. It seemed that the Cresent Sect prevented Elder Alpin from attacking the store.
Today it felt like the elder hated him and with his vengeful personality, he should have attacked Eric. Instead, he bid with him to raise the prices and didn't attack him afterward.
He was trying to provoke Eric and get him to do something so it can give Elder Alpin a reason to attack. This would also allow him to get backed up by the Crescent Sect but Eric wasn't going to do anything stupid like that.
