Into the nightmare

Dan and Kay were just standing and looking at the old man. He was all bloody. Dan felt anger that he thought he wasn't capable to feel. Only sound that he could hear was Kay's deep breathing. He closed his eyes and said to himself that he need to take Kay and go as soon as they can. If they call police, they will probably accuse them, because they are too busy these days to take any investigation on this single case. He turned around.

-"Kay, listen to me, we have to go. Now".

-"Are you serious? We should call ambulance or police. Or both!"

-"Kay, I am doctor. He is dead. If we call police we will be accused of killing him, you know that. Keep in mind that we need to find your brother, we don't have time to waste on trying to explain to the police why we are at this time here by dead body."

Kay continues through tears. "But.. Yeah, sorry, you are right. Let's go."

-"Good, now, where did you lost your brother?"

-"At the gas station. We lost our parent's in a car crash last week. When they showed up. Noone even cares about that. Me and Alex were suddenly left alone without any money, food or help."

-"Kay... I didn't know. I am so sorry.."

-"Yeah, me too.. Two days ago we gather all money that was left behind our parents and since then we are trying to get here. We think our aunt is still living here, we didn't see her for long time and don't have her number. I tried at phone diary but number isn't in use anymore. So we traveled by bus while we had money for it. We arrived here last night and decided to try reach her on foot. We saw gas station and some people around it. So I decided to try to aproach them and ask for some money or food and direction. Then..."

Her eyes are again filled with tears and Don didn't knew how to help her. But he tried to comfort her.

-"Kay, its okay, you don't have to continue now, I swear we will find your brother and then we will find your aunt. That's my promise to you".

Kay rushed and hugged Don that strong that he started to lose breath.

-"I am sorry, since you met me I am crying all the time and my brother is somewhere alone."

-"Don't apologise, you have been through a lot. Those damn aliens, they just showed themself's and we started to destroy ourself, I don't even know what would happened if they decide to really do something."

Don saw that Kaylee is even more disturbed now. He apologised and showed her to lead the way where her brother went missing. When they started to walk towards gas station, Don put his hand on her shoulder and she momentaly seemed a little bit relaxed, like she remebered what he promised. He didn't know how, but he swear to God he will fulfill his promise. As they continue to walk more and more people started to show on the streets. It's time to go to work. He would maybe also be headed in hospital now, but job interview is delayed for a next week.

Kay breaks the silence. "Hey Don, do you think we will find Alex alive and healthy?"

-"Well, I hope so. By the way, you didn't told me how he looks and how old is he."

-"Oh yes, sorry, all this situation is playing with my head. I can't think clearly. Alex is 12 years old. He is a little bit taller than me, has dark brown eyes, just like me. And yeah, he has blue hair. Luckily not like me". She smilled a little bit and that make Don feel warmth around his heart. He just met her, but he wanted to see her happy, to smile. She suffered so much in past week. Lost her parents, home, she was hurt and now, she maybe lost her brother too. If that happened to him... No, he could not bear that.

-"Kay, we will find him". The relief on her face was nice to see, but it didn't last long.

-"Don! There, that's the gas station!" She was ponting at the old rusty gas station and started to walk faster.

When they approached and get into the station, skinny guy that's obviously taking drugs, welcomed them not so friendly. Kaylee immediately started with questions.

-"Hey, have you seen a boy 12 years old..."

He rudely interupted her. -"I haven't. If you wanna buy something, buy. If not, please leave."

Kay was at the moment shocked but she changed her mood in furious in a second.

-"Listen to me. The boy I am searching for is my little brother". She grabbed him by his shirt and continued. -"I lost my parents last week. I lost my home. I don't have any money. I am hungry, hurt and tired. I won't lost my brother too. So, you ARE gonna tell me have you seen him and where. And you will tell me that now".

Junkie cashier looked like he would vomit any moment. Kay pulled him on the desk and that worked. He started talking even too fast.

-"I don't have anything with that, please. It's them. The hosts".

-"Who?"

-"You don't know who the hosts are? You are lucky. I am supposed to call them if I see any person that seems healthy and alone or weak. They are paying me with meth for every call I make, thats great buisness for nothing."

Kay let him go only to punch him in the face. Junkie fell back on his ass. Don didn't know should he interfere or not. He definitely deserves it.

Kay was furious. -"You want to tell me that you sold me and my brother to some guys for a little bit of meth??" She started to throw things at the moron on the floor. Dan grabbed her and tried to calm her down.

-"Hey, hey, hey, calm down. We don't want to involve police in this. Let me try."

When he is asured that she wont kill the junkie, he turned, aproached him around the desk and sqatted.

-"Listen, you will tell me where they took him and what have they done to him. Or I will just let her to deal with you".

Junkie was terrified. He seemed like forgot to speak. But one look at Kaylee and he started to talk.

-"I don't know where they took him, but the story goes around that they are trading people for money that they are using for buying weapons".

-"What do they need weapons for?"

-"For a war of course. They will be back. Those aliens will be back and they don't plan to surrender".

Dan stood up and looked at the junkie that was still on the floor. A little bit of blood dripped down his chin.

-"You will never call them again. You will never sell anyone else. And you will tell me who do you call".

Junkie stood up and quickly took his mobile phone. After few seconds he wrote a number on a piece of paper.

-"Here. This is the number. The guys name is Felix, that's all I know. When I make a call, a car with 3 or 4 of them come and kidnap the person, hand me my meth and leave. Please, it's all I know".

Don turned and looked at Kay. She seemed so angry. He nodded to her and left the gas station. After a minute Kay joined him rubbing her fist. The junkie obviously got some more attention from her. They moved a little bit from the gas station just in case junkie decide to call those guys or police. When they were on a safe place Don took his mobile phone and dial the given number. After the 3 rings the deep voice picked up.

-"Hello?"

-"Hi, I need Felix".

-"Yes, it's me, who's there"?

-"You can call me Abbadon. I am a buyer."

Kay looked at Don and tried to tell something, but he showed her to be quiet.

-"A buyer? Sorry but I don't sell anything."

-"Don't make a fool of me, I need a young male person. Not older than 14."

-"Excuse me?! You are either pervert or a cop, and what's with that name?Better hang up now before I call the police."

-"Listen, I'm not a cop and I don't want to ruin your operation. It's just best for both of us to do this anonymously, I guess you don't use your real name either."

-"Uhmm, yeah of course I don't use my real name..."

-"I just heard that you are the person I should talk to. My son is very ill and I need a heart donnor quick. I am willing to pay you three hundred thousand dollars for my request. If you are not willing to sell I will find another seller."

-"Oooh that? I'm sorry for misunderstandig. I just got one that fits your description but he is three hundred and fifthy thousand. I will even bring a heart so u don't have to get filthy."

-"Great, I will pay that price, but I want to see him alive and take few test to see if he is compatible with my son."

-"Sure, let's meet at the midnight at the east side of park, you sit near the blue building at the left bench, that's how will know that's you and don't forget the money."

-"Okay, I will be there."

Don hangs up the call. Kay was looking at him terrified.

-"What the hell have you just done? I don't have any money and you offered 350 000?? We should call the cops!"

-"Kay, calm down."

-"Calm down??? You just bought my brother's heart? Oh my god. I can't lose him too.."

She started to panic. Dan put his hand on her shoulder and looked at her. His calm look relaxed her for a second.

"Kay, I made you a promise. And I will fulfill it. Let me worry about everything. Tonight, your brother will be with you."
