People in White Uniform

Another vision struck Fein!

Unable to keep his strength, Fein crouched lower and covered his nose.

My pain is comparatively low this time. All the previous times it felt like my internals were squeezed and my head would split open. Now it is only a nosebleed. I guess my body is getting used to the pain. At this rate i might not even feel pain in the future.

He wiped the blood off from his nose as it had stopped bleeding. A vivid feeling of being strangled lingered around his throat. A strange smell remained in his nose. And the noise of chattering echoed in his ears.

This time it was humans and not those creatures.

"Fein! I brought some food back with me." Before long, Donna returned with an armful of food. Fein, upon noticing her, stood up and rubbed his nose.

"You're back already, Ms Donna."

"My goodness! There's blood on your shirt. Are you alright?"

"I'm perfectly fine. Thanks for your concern."

Though, she still looked worried. She put the food on a desk and called Fein closer. "Come here. Let me see."

What do you want to see?! Don't look at me so closely! Anxious, Fein took a step back. "Really its alright!"

She absolutely ignored his refusal and started to search for any injury.

"Seriously! Kids these days would break their bones and say they are completely fine."

It took Fein aback. Not even his own mother was ever so worried about him like this lady who he met only a few days back. He got entangled in his own feelings. A side of himself tugged him towards negativity and the other side softened him like an egg.

Donna raised her glances at Fein who stared at her awestruck.

"Oh! I'm sorry I began to nag! You must've felt embarrassed." She immediately retreated herself.

What just happened?? Thought Fein. Words came out of his mouth without thinking, "You're too kind, Ms Donna."

"You're being too formal." She averted her gazes and relaxed her facial muscles. "I always tend to get too worried. Maybe i was being paranoid." She smiled. "You kind of remind me of my son."

"You have a son?!"

"Yes. Not as big as you though."

They both sat facing each other. The faint moonlight shone on his back. The food awaited on the table for them to eat. But they were busy in their long dialogues.

"My son turned 11 years old this year. I was 20 when he was born."

"Really? I thought you looked much younger." Not really.

"Come on.." she giggled. "Stop with the flattery." She sighed then continued. "He was the only child I was blessed with. I couldn't have more. That's why I often got paranoid if anything happened to him. He complained a lot about me nagging, but I couldn't just stop worrying. Now it somewhat got into my habits."

How fortunate he must've been to have someone worry about him. "Where is he now? Is he alright?"

"I believe he is. He evacuated safely with my husband. So i want to believe that he's doing just fine without me."

"How come you're left behind?"

"We were in a rush. A train came and some people in white Dior uniforms strode out. They hastily evacuated people.."

"Dior uniforms?"

She shifted her sights up to Fein who sat on a desk. "That's what was written on their arms if my memories served me right."

Dior? People in expensive uniforms came to evacuate people? That's new to me. "Then what happened?"

"I saw my husband boarding on the train with my son. Heh. They tried a lot to stop the train."

Fein saw her smiling. A sad smile. A mix of relief and sorrow were expressed together. A sprinkle of fear loomed behind it.

"I saw his hand sticking on the other side of the window. My hands stretched but i couldn't touch it. I'm not sad or angry. I'm aware that we all were helpless in our situations." A long sigh escaped from her lips. "That's why… i know it's pointless but I can't let go of this stupid hope of mine. I hope to return to them one day. Not only me.. all the survivors in our hideout that got separated, I want to reunite them."

She also works with a certain motive.

Fein was astounded.

In a more honest and decent way.

His will started to waver.

What have i been doing? I just showed up one day in their hideout and started using them for my benefit. I was so blinded by my motive that I've completely ignored what other people might be going through. I can't brag about myself being in a worse situation when everyone is experiencing just the same.

"I hope you'll get to reunite with your family." Though I'm not so sure.

"That's all about me." Donna spoke while Fein was contemplating. He was dragged out of his self criticism process. "What drives you in this world? Your eyes tell me that you're in desperate search of something."

Fein widened his gazes. He did not know. Was i that much expressive? I haven't even pulled out my locket.

He admittedly scoffed.

This woman doesn't fail to surprise me.

"I'm looking for my sister. I don't know if she's alive or whether she evacuated. But I don't want to give up already. Looking for her is my only motive."

"So? It is your sister.. not your parents?"

He slid from the desk and walked away. His mouth murmured in an inaudible range. "I'm sure they won't even care."

Their long conversation created a sense of determination in them to protect each other. As the night stretched longer, they decided to take turns in keeping watch. The woman was in the first shift. She sat with her feet crossed on one of the rolling chairs while Fein laid on his back on the floor. He wasn't particularly sleepy so his eyes stared at the ceiling and counted all the LED lights in different patterns and angles.

Donna leaned backwards with comfort. She gathered her black long hair together, clustered them on her crown and made a bun. She unzipped her thick coat, showing her crop top underneath. Her breasts peeked out over the fenny pack attached on her stomach.

Fein was already at an age that could be said an early adulthood or start of manliness. Though she didn't hesitate to expose her skin despite being in the same room. It made a clear message of how much she was comfortable around him and how they trusted each other.

Fein too, as a gentleman, respected her privacy and tossed over, turning his back on her.

For the first time ever, i want to protect someone else other than Rene.

He closed his eyes and entered his slumber.Coughing made him jump awake from his sleep.

"Are you alright, Fein?!"

While he clenched his mouth in an attempt to prevent coughing, Donna dashed towards him with a bottle of water. "Have some water! You okay?" She quickly rubbed his back.

"Was i asleep?" He said that in between his coughs. "For how long?"

"Yes. Only for an hour."

He took the bottle and chugged water down his throat. He was conflicted.

I can't really remember it… but i saw something really really horrible.
