A bunch of Lies

"Johan and Nicole still didn't return. It has gotten to midnight as well." Eudimor paced about the entrance of the pit.

"I'll go and look for them." Said he.

"That isn't required, Eudimor." It was said by Ran who awaited for the mentioned two to arrive along with the rest. His arms were crossed below his breasts. "We can't afford to lose more people who can fight those things."

"Are you serious, Ran?!" Protested Eudimor. "What if they're only stuck somewhere and need our help?! If we get too late they might die!"

"That's exactly my point. Going out at this time is the same as suicide. If they haven't returned that only means either they are dead or they are not capable of fighting anymore. We can't lose more manpower!"

Eudimor slammed the table. "We founded this hideout together." With determination in his eyes and infuriation in his voice, Eudimor said. "I'll go look for them even if it costs my life."

Ran sighed in disappointment. "I've no more words to explain. You're simply risking 63 lives here for 2."

"Why don't you say something Kui?!"

Kui shrunk her head into her shoulders and shrugged. "I really can't say much…. Eudimor is right… but Ran isn't wrong either."

She played the safest card, supporting both sides but siding none.

Eudimor clicked his tongue and decided to head out on his own.

Fein only overheard them from afar.

A few hours prior, while Fein was resting in a corner by himself, a red string appeared before his blackened eyes. It snapped causing an immense headache.

Fein leaned lower and covered his eyes. It felt like his eyes were burning. He was sure that there would be smoke coming out from his eyes if he removed his hand. His body shivered, toes twitched to retain his last bit of sensation. All these were caused while he was shown the future.

The future in which Fein laid on his pool of blood, waiting to draw his last breath. In front of his fading vision, he saw Eudimor fiercely fighting until he was sliced apart. Ran being feasted on. Two more people laid beside him, their eyeballs falling off from their head, opened guts and a heartless chest.

Such an atrocity!!

His heart darkened with the gruesome scene. Head banging like crazy, he clenched his hair.

Considering all the previous incidents, his visions were never wrong. One way or another it was bound to happen in the future. He thought it was his best opportunity, hand gifted by his Creator.

This is the best chance to get closer to Eudimor and his accomplices.

With that decided, he rushed to inform them just that instant.

Though… they were reluctant to go and rescue despite Eudimor's persuasion.

What should i do? They sound like they value Eudimor more than those that are trapped outside. He must be an impactful person. With him on my side, I can rest assured of my survival.

In a separate room, Eudimor rummaged through a chest box. Inside, it contained all types of arms and ammunition.

The question arose, how did they even get those?

Fein shook his head. No. I need to get to his good side.

"Eudimor."

The soft and low voice rang through his ears, Eudimor turned around while putting on his hand gloves. "What is it Fein?"

Fein released a huge breath and decided to come out open. "I'm sorry I heard over your conversation. I didn't mean to. As an apology, I'd like to assist you in rescuing them."

"Huh? Eh? No. Its seriously dangerous! I can't let random people just roam outside. You should stay here!"

"I won't be a burden! I promise. Please let me be of some help."

"No."

What should i do? Fein glared at him from the top of his eyes. I don't want to disclose the fact that i can foresee. I have to come up with something that'll make him want to take me with him.

He counted the line marks on his fingers using his thumb. His eyes roamed around every corner of the cabin.

The place where we died, I recognize that. I may not have been there in the last two days, but the store i worked in was located there. It was the drug store on the main road. Farer from here. They probably were injured and needed meds. But I'm not supposed to know that. People here looked like they ran out of bandages and stuffs. In sum, I can use all that I observed here with a bit of lies to make him believe that i know where they are.

"I know where they are!"

Eudimor sheathed his dagger and stared at Fein with utter confusion. "How do you know?!"

"I've heard from the injured survivors. Someone named Nicole promised to fetch them some medicines. I'm sure they must've gone there. And i know all the short paths to the closest drug stores."

Fein waited for a while for his reply. In the meanwhile his counting got intense, murmuring 5-6 long digits in just seconds.

Eudimor turned over and reopened the chest. His hand dived into it, and pulled out a Ruger SP101. He tossed the revolver to Fein. "It has six bullets. I'll lend you two more barrels. Shoot it even if you can't use it."

Eudimor again strode outside the room, shoving another thick coat at Fein. "Wear it even if it gets hot."

"I take it as a yes." So I've finally managed to convince him.

The smoke of mist showered from the pit. Their hideout entrance looked like the part of the stage under which the main actor or idol makes their dazzling appearance. The white smoke accompanied by a little rays of sunlight marked the dawn.

"Are you serious about taking this kid? Huh, Eudimor?"

He looked at Ran over his shoulder. "He knows where they are. Its better we go with a strategy instead of going without a plan."

Fein frowned a little. Ran didn't look much older than himself. Sure he had a large physique, but he wasn't more than 22, only a college student. And Fein was almost 18 himself. He ignored Ran regardless, thinking..

I don't want to get on anyone's bad side.

"Please take care." Said Kui. "I'll be waiting here with lunch for you."

It was meant to motivate them, but Fein felt the red flag rising thumping in his heart. It might be the last greetings we hear.

They departed into the mist of the dawn. Eudimor took the lead with Fein following after.

I've already seen several visions and they popped up without my intention. I guessed that those appeared because of my survival instincts because all the visions were of my own death. But i wonder if i can foresee something other than my death… and with my intention.

"Where to, Fein?"

Fein raised his head from his feet. "Ahh. We take the right subroad. It is only a straight path so it should take less time."

"Alright."

The foggy wind pierced into their skins. It was as sharp as knife tips. Their surroundings got whiter and colder. Fein winced his brows and looked around with his alerted gazes.

The environment is getting similar to my vision. We're going in the right direction. But i worry that we might be following what was inscribed on our fates.

He touched the revolver in his pocket. It rubbed against his thigh as he walked.

"Eudimor. Beware of the dragons in the sky."

"Yeah. You look out for the undeads."

Except undeads that i saw, my death wasn't exactly caused by those. And the things that Eudimor fought against.

"Eudimor. Can you tell me what else is there except for undeads and dragons."

"Huh?" He glanced from the corner of his eyes and halted. "Oh yeah. You still don't know right. I should've told you first." He rubbed the back of his head and deadly glared at Fein. "The beasts are far more worse."

"Beasts?"

"Yeah. People have identified undeads. They are in the process of discovering dragons. But beasts…. No one knows what those are yet. You may categorize it as animals or humans. But their strength is monstrous."

"So.. what do you do when you come to face it?"

"We run with our tails in between our legs."

It is without a doubt that we will encounter the beast and die. Should i stop him here? Or should i just go back myself?
