Chapter 25: What is it All For?
Asa POV:
Asa stepped over the threshold of their home, finally feeling like he could breathe.
The midday sun burned brightly outside, warming everything it touched.
However, once in the home, the curtains drawn, it felt frigid again.
Asa remembered that he’d fallen ill, that a doctor came.
The doctor never officially told Asa what caused him to get sick, but Asa knew just as the doctor did.
He rejected Chris’ bite.
He looked over at the older male, who sobered a bit from before.
The loving feelings had cooled now that danger no longer confronted Asa.
It made Asa wonder if the only times Chris would show him love would be in the face of danger.
“I’m going to shower,” Chris whispered, his voice tired.
He went upstairs and Asa watched him go.
Asa washed the blood off of his hands before heading toward the stairs.
He touched everything, trying to rid the house of Jacob’s scent, and recover his own smell.
