Chapter 40

Judy's face was covered in sand. Susan was taken aback by the way Judy suddenly fell as soon as she warned her against running. Too late, but the old butler was the first to come to Judy's aid, and picked her up.

"Mummy" Judy started to cry out to her mother. She shut her eyes tight, so that no drop of sand would enter her eyes, yet she cried out loud. She was clever to have shut her eyes, Richard thought so. Some kids would bury their heads inside the sand and blink furiously in it if they were in Judy's shoes.

Susan fetched a face wipe from her pocket and started to wipe her daughter, Judy's face, while the butler looked at them in panic.

"Please bring her this way so that we can wash her face". The butler told Susan.

Richard was the last to reach Judy. He bent to look at her and give her help. His heart melted while she was in tears.
