Vanessa's joy knew no bounds as she made her way out of the building. She was pleased to the moon and back. Who would have thought things would go as easy as they had? She had come prepared for a fight, but not only did that not happen, but she also didn't even get to use any of the evidence she had come with, and she had gotten her job!

Vanessa looked around the company one more time, and she couldn't have felt more proud of herself.

She had actually performed so well in the interview, and she was the best fit for the job, but that man had given her rightful position to his stupid mistress? How unfair.

So if she hadn't decided to go there and had decided to stay at home and sulk about the unfairness of the world, she would have lost her job to some crazy girl? This confirms one of her life philosophies; opportunities don't come knocking. You defy the odds and create opportunities for yourself.

Vanessa couldn't help but notice the receptionist's awkward glance at her. She sauntered over with an apologetic smile plastered on her face, "I'm sorry for earlier. It wasn't intentional. I hope you understand." She apologized.

The receptionist was quite surprised to hear this from her and to see her in a calmer mood. She had a feeling Vanessa might have bipolar, or maybe she had schizophrenia because only people with such conditions changed moods so quickly.

But from how sweet she was smiling, a 180-degree change from the person she was minutes ago, she could tell all had gone well in the CEO's office.

"I suppose your grievances have been amicably settled?" She asked with a smile while Vanessa gleefully nodded.

"Yes, it has, and you'll be seeing more of my face henceforth." She said with an excited smile which the receptionist returned.

"Well, I'm happy for you. But less drama next time, okay?" She asked in a jocular manner, making Vanessa chuckle as she nodded her head.

"Definitely, no drama at all." She replied.

"Alright then, it's nice to meet you, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your happy face."

"Me too, Ms...." Vanessa dragged when she realized she didn't know her name.

"Claire, and no need for the honorifics," She told her smilingly.

"Okay, Claire. I'll see you tomorrow." Vanessa said.

"Okay," She replied.

"Bye. And I still owe you that lunch." Vanessa happily waved before walking out of the company. Her heart was merry, and she couldn't remember the last time she felt this happy with herself. The pay from this job should be able to provide their basic needs at least until her pay from the hospital.

Vanessa hadn't fully stepped off the door when she heard a crazy shriek and a crazy woman lunging towards her with full force. Vanessa reflexively stepped away, deftly evading the incoming assault and making the attacker lose her bearing as she stumbled forward.

"You bitch!" Maya screamed angrily, making Vanessa roll her eyes.

She turned to her, giving her a once over. Her face was extremely distorted, like she had eaten something sour.

Tilting her head to the side, Vanessa scoffed, "Bitch?" she asked with incredulity.

"Yes! Backstabbing bitch, that's what you are!" Maya snapped.

Folding her hands across her chest, Vanessa trailed her from head to toes in a condescending manner. "You know, coming from someone sleeping with someone's husband, I think that makes you a hypocrite. I'd advise you to choose your words carefully before you shoot yourself in the leg." Vanessa said coolly.

Maya gritted her teeth and clenched her hands into a fist. "How dare you?!" She seethed.

"How dare me what?" Vanessa asked with a condescending yet challenging tone. Her brows defiantly cocked at her.

"How dare you do this?! I thought you were my friend! I believed you, trusted you! So how dare you do this to me? How dare you steal my job?!" Maya yelled in rage, lethal glares darting out her eyes. If looks could kill, Vanessa would be dead ten times over, but she was unfazed.

Vanessa let go of her arm wrapped across her chest as she looked at Maya in disbelief. "I stole your job?" She asked with incredulity. "You must be delusional, Maya. I shouldn't remind you that you and your paunchy lover tried to steal my job! You're the characterless one here who is currently sleeping with a married man to get a job you're not qualified for. Do you know having an affair with a married man is a sin? You're ruining someone else's marriage, and you dare stand there and act angry with me? You call me a bitch?" Vanessa felt her blood rile up.

"Shut up!" Maya snapped.

"No, you shut up!" Vanessa fired back, her shoulders tensed up, and her eyes slowly began to burn with anger as she stalked toward Maya.

"I was never your friend, and I'll never be. I'll never be friends with someone with no morals. A soon-to-be homewrecker, a stupid side chick? I can never be friends with you. So before you open your mouth and spew rubbish to my face, throwing fake and unwarranted tantrums in front of me, you should get some manners and a capable brain!" Vanessa fiercely spat out.

"You.." Maya stuttered.

"Stop talking," Vanessa ordered, and Maya couldn't help but clamp her mouth shut in obeisance. Vanessa has suddenly turned intimidating.

"You're beautiful, but I don't know if your brain is as pretty as your face, which I highly doubt. But if you know what is good for you, put some things into that head of yours and make something useful of yourself. Save the world of having to deal with one crazy bitch. Now, if you have nothing to do or say, SCRAM!" Vanessa snarled, the harshness of her words reverberating in Maya's head.

Maya bit her inner lips as they quivered with lividity. She couldn't believe this traitor had the nerves to talk back at her. She took a step closer to Vanessa, so they stood shoulder to shoulder, her lethal gaze boring into Vanessa's, who was on par with hers and, by far more intimidating than hers, but she didn't budge.

"Just so you know, you've made an enemy out of me, Vanessa Scott, and I'm going to make you pay." Maya threatened while Vanessa scoffed.

"You're not even qualified to be my enemy, so get lost!" Vanessa retorted.

"I'll make you pay."

"I'd love to see you try. And next time you try a stunt like this, try to sit for the aptitude test. Who knows? It might help boost your zero Intelligent Quotient." Vanessa hissed before flagging down a cab, leaving a livid Maya staring after her in anger.
