CHAPTER 10

I must have stayed sprawled on the floor of the hallway for at least thirty minutes crying until I decided to go back to the staff quarters. I sniffled and wiped my red, swollen and teary eyes before I began to make my way to the room. Dread weighed me down as I dragged my feet until the door to the staff room greeted my eyes.

My feet were heavy like I was dredging through thick sludge and my mind was foggy as if the fumes from a car's exhaust pipe had been blown directly into my brain causing me to not think clearly. To anyone else I might have looked like a zombie wandering the halls looking for its next meal to devour but it seemed that I was still just in shock of what had happened especially when Caleb said that we would meet again soon. My body shivered at the thought.
