Episode 15

Jordanna tried pushing her away unsuccessfully, Ama was too strong for her, she had been caught off guard so she struggled. Luckily, one of their neighbours was passing by and immediately called the police when she saw what was going on. Within minutes, the police had arrived to meet a thoroughly beaten Jordanna with a bruised face, they immediately carried her off Jordanna and called for an ambulance, "leave me alone" Ama screamed, kicking her legs when she was pulled off, "this woman took my husband away from my kids and I.

All because of her, my kids were left without a father for weeks" Ama fumed still spitting at Jordanna as the police held her, "that's still not an excuse for your actions, this is assault and you will be arrested and charged to court" the policeman said, "but I have to go to work and my kids will need to go to school" Ama argued, "foster care will take care of that" the policeman replied, "their father is still available" Jordanna immediately interjected from the floor where she had been sitting holding her face in her hands, "he is sleeping, he's in my apartment " Jordanna said, pointing to her door, "that solves the problem then" the policeman said, as Jordanna slowly stood to open the door up to let him into the apartment. She had a big contusion on her cheek and was in pain.

Contusion is a collection of blood outside the blood vessel. It happens when blood vessels are injured and blood leaks into the surrounding area. Contusions usually happen as a result of a direct blow to the affected part of the body. A contusion is popularly known as a bruise and it usually heals on its own in a few days to weeks.

Deji had been fast asleep all this time and had no clue what was going on, everytime he slept he was like a log of wood, he barely heard anything or moved, he was a very deep sleeper. One of the policemen had gone to knock on his room door to get his attention, it wasn't until he started banging the door really hard before Deji finally woke up. Startled by the noise, he hurried to open the door only to see a policeman standing in front of him,

"what is it this time? what have I done again?" He thought to himself, "goo-good morning" he stammered, "good morning, sorry to barge in on you" the policeman began, "there seems to be a family dispute outside that requires your attention. Your wife has physically assaulted a lady who she says took you away from her and is now under arrest" the policeman explained, "she WHAT?" Deji interjected, "she assaulted a lady, the one who lives in this apartment, I believe" the policeman explained. "Oh my God!" Deji exclaimed, "we are actually reaching out to you because she mentioned you have kids who require adult supervision, if there is no close relative availability to take care of them, we will need to take them to foster care" the policeman explained further, "my kids will never go to foster care, not while I'm alive" Deji said, "I suppose that means you will be taking custody of them?" the policeman asked, "of course" Deji replied, "right away" he added. "Ok, then, that solves the problem" the policeman said, turning to leave, "we will need you to come and get them now, we need to leave" the policeman added. "Sure," Deji said, rushing to put on his trousers and follow him behind.

By the time they were outside, the ambulance crew had already arrived with the first responders and were attending to Jordanna.

Immediately Ama saw Deji, she started raining curses on him, "you brought your wife and kids to London only to abandon them for another woman" she began with tears in her eyes, "you left me to work and fend for the family while I was studying at the same time" she continued as Deji stared at her looking shocked and confused, "that's alright Madam, we need to move now" the policeman said as they took her away.

The ambulance also took Jordanna away to the hospital for a thorough medical examination to rule out any complications from head trauma.

Few weeks later, after the court hearing, Ama was ordered to pay a fine of £5000, Deji got a lawyer to file for legal separation from her and he was also granted joint custody of the children. They spent every other week with him and Jordanna. They had grown very fond of her and she treated them like they were hers.

One day, after she returned from home, Deji sat her down for a tough conversation, "I'm tired of this country" he began, "this country is not for me, I feel like I've lost myself coming here. I have lost my worth, I've lost my family. I came here because I wanted to save my family but somehow, I ended up losing everything including the family I was trying so hard to protect" he continued as tears began rolling down his eyes, "ok" Jordanna nodded listening for what he wanted to say, she wasn't sure what to do or how to react as she had never seen Deji cry before. "So what are you trying to say?" She asked, "what I'm saying is I want to leave. I'm tired of this nightmare. I want to go back home" Deji cried, shaking his head like he was going crazy.

"Ok" was all Jordanna could say as she stared at him wondering if he had finally lost it.
