Chapter 24
A conference room in a business setting, the presentation, and the price were intense from the moment I stepped into this room. Mirawadee thinks that this time there may be only one competitor as usual. But I can’t imagine that there will be three more companies. Which made her are anxious and hesitant about this job.
After listening to the presentation and price of the other party, she felt she might not fight. Of course, because it’s not the only standard that makes customers decide to buy imported products with agents like companies. But it’s also a matter of price.
The new competitors didn’t have a better product. But they are cheap, and they copied some models that are imported as well from foreign companies. The same template as the parent company that her company imports. Although the design is the same, the material of manufacture is completely different.
“Are you worried about this?” The young man leaned over and whispered in his ear.
“Yeah, a little,” she said, taking a deep breath. While it fixed her eyes on the presentation and price of the ultimate competitor.
“I can’t discount anymore. And you know they need that too.”
The young man nodded and understood what the girl said. What that means is the kickback that was used to get the job done. If the amount of money is little and the price offered is high, it is normal to miss.
More than an hour has passed. Meetings and discussions have ended. The people in charge of the project discussed and discussed with each other. But the results are still not conclusive on which company to choose. All companies that came in to bid today were scheduled to come in for private talks again on the appointed date. Mirawadee walks up to greet the project manager but seems to be ignored. Because there is a hot new company this year to greet. Also, it looks like it should get this job as well. Even though her company imported genuine.
Finally, the morning meeting on bidding ended without being able to re-enter the conversation with the responsible person. She must have missed out on this event. While looking at the discussion group, the head walked over to greet them during their conversation. He got everyone’s attention and had fun chatting.
Seeing the young man standing to talk, she immediately stood beside him.
“Mr. Rachata, I didn’t think you’d come along…”
“I’m her boss,” Rachata replied, and introduced the girl according to manners. “I became a partner of the company. And this work is an extensive project. So, I would like to come and see the work for myself. Nice to see you again.”
Mirawadee smiled in response and stood there listening to the conversation, dazed. But it was understandable because the young man was quite wealthy. He might be famous among some high-society people.
“It’s almost noon. Shall we go have a meal and sit and have a conversation?” Rachata was invited.
“It’s better for the next opportunity. We have a meeting today.”
“Okay, then I’ll wait for the opportunity.” Ratchata smiled as he reached out to shake hands with the other party.
“Oh, OK,” he replied briefly before walking towards the group with the other person in charge. This denial is a sign that the company may miss a major project. Because they all walked out with a company that came in today to offer a job.
“We’d better go back.”
“I’m getting hungry. Well, let’s stop for lunch first,” the young man said as he reached out and held the young woman’s hand.
“You are taking your work too seriously.”
“Yeah.” Mirawadee realized she was being held by her hand and her expression was not correct. When she pulled out her hand, he refused to let go.
“No, I’m not.”
“Let’s go,” he said and pulled her hand to walk together. She followed and looked at the strong back. It was unspeakably embarrassing and exciting. His big, cold palms made her feel warm.
Mirawadee accidentally thought of many confusing things without realizing that she had reached the parking lot. He opened the door for her like never. Although feeling puzzled, she accepted the kindness of the other party. The car that looks in the morning is still shocked because it is an auto driver system. This means you can drive yourself or turn on the system to guide you to your destination.
After leaving the car for a while, the young man spoke up.
“You are serious about this job. Without knowing that you might miss it.”
“For work, I have to be serious. No matter how big or small.” She turned to look at him.
“What about me?” He reached for the automatic driving system. Before turning to listen to the answer coming from her mouth.
“Ah... you.”
“Are you more serious about me than work? Or are you more serious about your work than me?”
What did he ask?
Mirawadee didn’t answer correctly. Because it cannot weigh the importance of both.
“I, I don’t know, me.”
Rachata used a finger to cover the girl’s mouth. He himself was afraid of the answer from her heart. And very confused about how to proceed in this dark hole. The only goal is to free yourself from this torment.
“You don’t have to tell me,” He smiled and moved away.
Mirawadee can’t do anything because her heart confused. She doesn’t know when or if it has happened recently, but if she asks him, ‘Can I love you the way a wife loves her husband?’
What will he answer?
