A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. Abigail also kissed him back. This time, she did not have any hesitations in mind.
Christopher had brought her so much joy that her rage and disappointment with him had faded. The warm feeling of his breath was inviting.
She shoved her fingers into his hair and parted her lips, feeling him wash over her like a wave of warmth, awakening all her senses as the taste of him almost numbed her brain.
Heat rose from her stomach to her chest. Her whole body tingled. She moved in closer to him, rubbing his nape. By the time she became aware of her fingers, they had already slipped under his shirt, his skin warm and smooth.
His senses became heightened. He kissed her more passionately, hungry and intense, until her body loosened in his arms.
"You taste so sweet," he murmured against her lips.
She couldn't control the flutter within, the violent heartbeat, or the lump rolling up her throat.
