Chapter 25: Ghosts
The first time Reesa saw her father cry, he was burying his own father. When she asked him why grief hurt so much, he said losing anything or anyone you loved was life-changing, and the strain of having to adjust deepened the pain of the loss. In response, Reesa questioned if there was ever a situation where love wasn’t worth the risk of heartache. And that’s when Gabriel Tyler said real love—the kind he shared with Hazel, Reesa, and Tamara—was worth any risk.
As Reesa watched Myko with the man who’d left him and his mother behind, she didn’t know if he’d agree with all of Gabriel’s views.
“It’s good to see you,” his father said.
Myko’s brow furrowed. “Are Bianca and my siblings with you?”
“Unfortunately, no. Emilio’s on set with his mother, Dom had exams, and Bianca’s with Elena for her college tour. But they’ll be glad to hear you asked about them.”
“No need to make a report. I talk to them quite often,” Myko said. “Mareesa, come here, please.”
