A poem written by later generations serves as proof.

The poem says:

Confusedly living through the years, waking confused and sleeping confused.

Unaware of the confusion, dawn breaks again, burying confusion deep in heart and lungs.

Clearly confused, drinking confusedly and drunkenly confused.
