Ding silently watched their interaction as he sipped from his own glass.

Lian sat at the stairs leading to the garden Ding's dogs on either side of him. The two dogs lay on fours their heads on Lian. He slowly stroked their heads as his thoughts wandered.

Ever since the night Li had dropped him home, he had disappeared and barely texted him.

He pulled out his phone, the last text message he had sent to Li displayed on the screen.

"Do you think something happened to him?"

The dog on his left raised its head and Lian rubbed the back of its ear.

"Right. Maybe he's just busy running his company."

The dog barked once and resumed its position on his lap.

The sound of tires screeching echoed around him and the dogs stood alert baring their teeth. Lian slowly walked towards the source of the sound the two canines never leaving his feet.
