Chapter 21: The Shadow King’s Fortress
Aelric felt his heart beat faster as he stood before the Shadow King's dark fortress. The black stone walls stretched high into the sky, twisting in unnatural ways, as if the very building itself was alive with darkness. The air was heavy, making each breath feel thick and difficult.
Beside him, Seraphina held her sword tightly, and her dragon Emberclaw let out a low, rumbling growl. Lyra, their loyal mage, took a deep breath, her face tense but steady.
"We're finally here," Aelric said, looking at his friends. He tried to hide the fear in his voice, but his hands were shaking. "Everything has led us to this moment."
Lyra put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "We're with you, Aelric. No matter what happens."
Aelric nodded, grateful for their support. He wasn't sure if he would survive this fight, but he knew he couldn't let his people down. He had come too far to turn back now.
