Chapter Sixty five

Valerie was determined to uncover the truth about Sophia's past. She had a feeling that Sophia was hiding something, and she was determined to find out what it was. 

Valerie sat in the garden, her mind reeling with where Alex would have brought Sophia from. Suddenly, Joseph walked up to her and sat down beside her.

"Hey... Why are you all by yourself?" Joseph asked. But Valerie didn't respond. She was still angry with him for taking sides with Sophia during the dinner.

Joseph sighed. "Are you still mad at me? I already told you I was sorry."

Valerie raised an eyebrow. "Sorry? Do you think that's gonna cut it? I mean you joined them to make a fool of me. You knew that if you had supported me..." Valerie protested, but Joseph didn't let her finish.

"Both of us would have gotten ridiculed. I mean if I had supported you, then both of us would have looked like a fool.
