Love is in the Air

Otto knocked on the door, and ... nothing happened.

Elio and Otto were just waiting in front of the door.

After a bit of time, Elio spoke

"Sir Otto, are you sure he's inside?"

Otto nodded and didn't say anything

A couple of minutes passed like that, then Otto knocked again.

This time, they heard a female's voice from behind the door

"Enter"

Otto opened the door and they both entered.

The office was fancy, even somewhat luxurious.

It had an expensive-looking sofa and a table with multiple drinks on it.

At the other end of the office, there was a big desk, behind the desk sat a young red-haired man who seemed to be in his late 20s, and on the expensive sofa sat a very beautiful blue-haired young woman.

The woman's hair was long, and it was the same color as her eyes, ocean blue.

'These are the most beautiful eyes I have seen in my life'

Elio couldn't help but stare at her eyes for a couple of seconds before managing to control himself.

After seeing her eyes, all of Elio's worries faded, and he realized that there were way more important things in life to worry about than just his job.

The young woman was wearing a Crimson Armor and sitting with her legs crossed.

Her facial expression was neutral, but to an extent, she looked annoyed.

Otto walked to her first and slightly bowed

"Lady Breena"

She replied in a polite tone

"Welcome"

Then Elio walked to her and did the same with a smile

"La-dy Breenaa"

He was trying to mimic Otto, but he got flustered and couldn't say her name correctly.

Regardless, she nodded to him but didn't say anything.

Still, Elio couldn't help but grin.

Otto walked to the young man behind the desk and bowed as well

"Sir Kasai"

Kasai nodded and spoke with a polite smile

"Mister Otto, how are you doing?"

Otto looked behind him and saw Elio standing and taking glances at Breena.

He inwardly facepalmed

'What is this idiot doing...'

He quickly called him

"Mister Elio"

Elio came and stood in front of the two now-seated men

"Sir"

Otto introduced his boss

"This is Sir Kasai, he's the head of our department"

Elio extended his hand

"Elite Knight Elio at your service"

Kasai shook his hand with a friendly expression on his face and replied with a smile

"Have a seat, Mister Elio"

Elio sat

Kasai then looked at Otto and asked him

"What brings you here at this time, Mister Otto?"

Otto looked at Elio

"Mister Elio, tell Sir Kasai exactly what happened today"

All Elio's worries suddenly came back and he gulped.

He didn't speak, so Otto glared at him, forcing him to muster up all his courage and tell Kasai everything that happened with him and Kye.

As the story progressed, the room became more and more silent, even a breath couldn't be heard, and Kasai's friendly expression was slowly contorting to become grave.

By the time Elio was done talking, the room's atmosphere was heavy, and Kasai spoke in a solemn tone

"Let me get this straight, MISTER ELIO, you're saying that an ELITE Knight in my department has been taken hostage or even killed? in the SLUMS??!"

Elio felt pressure being directed at him from both Kasai and Breena.

The pressure from Kasai worried him, but the pressure from Breena emotionally hurt him.

'Does this mean our story is already over before it even started...'

Elio was lamenting his misfortune when suddenly Kasai got up from his seat

"I need to talk to the Leader about this"

Kasai hurriedly walked towards the door, opened it, and said

"Don't go anywhere"

Then he left the office.

Breena quickly got up and followed Kasai outside, she caught up to him and called him

"Zai, Zai, wait"

Kasai stopped in his tracks until she caught up to him

"What?"

"Don't be worried"

"What do you mean don't be worried, Breena, this is a serious situation..."

Kasai didn't stop moving while he was talking, he was heading towards the Citadel's Keep

Breena spoke in a sweet, soothing voice

"Everything will be fine, Zai"

"I appreciate your support, but I don't think things are even remotely fine"

She held his hand

"I'm on your side. If you want, I can talk to the Captain with you, and if anything happens, I'll talk to the Captain about you."

Kasai smiled

"Thank you, Babe. However, this is my department, and these are my men. I need to take responsibility for it. I'll handle the situation for now, but if I need your help, I'll reach out. I'm counting on you."

She nodded

"Alright. Once everything is over, come to me, I'm waiting."

Breena kissed Kasai on his cheek and then left him alone.

After walking for some more time, Kasai reached the Keep.

It had a much bigger door and two Knights standing in front of it.

As soon as the Knights saw him they saluted him

"Sir Kasai"

Kasai nodded and said

"I need to talk to the Captain"

The Knights looked at each other then one of them said

"The Commander is currently busy.

 Sir Kasai, as you are aware, meeting with the Commander is not possible without a prior arrangement."

Kasai started to get annoyed, but he forced himself to keep his polite tone

"It's an emergency"

The Knights were reluctant, but eventually one of them said

"Give me a moment"

He knocked on the gate, opened it, and entered.

After less than a minute, the Knight came back out heaving, his face was red, and his entire body was covered in sweat.

He couldn't talk for a couple of seconds and kept panting.

Finally, after he calmed down a bit, he spoke

"The Commander will be ready to meet you in 2 hours"

"2 hours? it's an emergency"

The Knight got annoyed

"Sir Kasai, you should enter and tell him that, I'll open the gate for you."

Kasai sighed and crossed his arms

"Fine, Whatever."

There was a magical watch that displayed the time in front of the Keep's gate

'The Captain probably put it here for similar situations'

Kasai stood in front of the watch, waiting for the two hours to pass.
