The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Ishaan's Realization

Ishaan took a seat, and a couple of seconds after that, Sebastian came with a tray that had a mug of coffee and a glass of water on top of it.

He placed the tray in front of Ishaan then stood to the other man's right side.

The man looked at Ishaan and said in a slightly reproaching tone

"Didn't I tell you not to call me that? It makes me feel old"

Ishaan scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment

"Sorry, Gran- I mean, Sir Ignatius"

Ignatius had a friendly smile on his face

"Just Ignatius will be fine, but whatever makes you feel comfortable. Drink your coffee"

Ishaan picked up the mug and took a sip

"It's good"

Ignatius nodded

"Of course, Sebastian is the best Butler in the city"

Sebastian smiled wryly and didn't say anything.

Ignatius then looked into Ishaan's eyes and asked

"What brings you here today, Ishaan?"

Ishaan drank some water and then began talking

"Do you remember the child I told you about two years back? The talented descendant who was capable of silent casting and became a Warrior-Mage at the age of four"

Within moments, Ignatius' mind summoned all the memories of that particular incident and all the information related to it.

He nodded and asked

"The purple-haired child? Leus Inferno?"

When Ishaan heard that he thought to himself

'Ah, so his name is Leus, good to know'

He continued

"Yes, that's him. Son of Blaze"

Ignatius asked in an interested tone

"What about him?"

"It seems that Arno is taking him to the Capital"

Ignatius tilted his head

"Is visiting the Capital a problem?"

"No, it's not just a visit, Sir. His father put his house for sale, he also took an unpaid leave from his job. On top of that, he asked for the Guild's membership to be transferred to the Capital's Guild.

I know that because I asked some people to keep an eye on him.

Thanks to that, we know of Arno's plan to secretly take Leus to the Capital, permanently"

Ignatius leaned back on his chair and thought about everything he heard

'Nothing of that makes sense'

'First, there's no way Ishaan is ahead of Arno or aware of his plan, this kid overestimates his intelligence'

'It means that Arno is, once again, creating an intricate scheme.'

Ignatius sighed

'Why doesn't he just reveal his plans to me instead of all this?'

This had happened many times before, and by now, Ignatius knew what he had to do

'Go with the flow'

'Arno probably wants to get this Leus into the Mansion in the official way'

'Let's play the game by his rules'

'The kid is probably worth it.'

He looked at Ishaan and asked

"When was the last time you saw the child?"

"Two years ago"

Ignatius didn't like that answer, so he asked another question

"Do you at least have an estimation of how powerful the child is?"

Ishaan just shook his head

"No"

Ignatius sighed

"Did you read the update on the child's file?"

Ishaan tilted his head

"What update?"

Ignatius glanced at Sebastian, who immediately understood what Ignatius wanted.

Sebastian walked to a file cabinet that was near the wall beside Ignatius' desk and opened it, then took out a purple-colored file that was ahead of all the other files.

As soon as Sebastian pulled out the purple file, a 3D, hologram-like image of a child with purple hair and a few black strands began to hover in the air.

He put the file in front of Ignatius, and the image of the purple-haired child was visible to all three.

Ignatius spoke in a serious tone

"This is a file The Talent Acquisition Department has made on Leus since you first reported about him, and recently, it has been updated."

Ishaan asked with interest

"What is the update?"

Ignatius opened the file and flipped the first couple of pages then stopped at a specific page. He pressed on a red square that was drawn on the page.

Once he did that, another 3D image hovered in the air, this one was of a red-haired young man.

When Ishaan saw that image he felt confused

"Kasai?"

"Yes. Recently, Arno killed him, the reasons given were: Blasphemy and Heresy"

Ishaan replied evenly

"That means nothing"

Ignatius nodded

"Probably he disrespected Arno in some way or another, but that's not what matters now"

Ignatius flipped the page, then he pressed on a blue-colored square on the page.

Another image appeared, this one was of a blue-haired man.

Ishaan didn't recognize that man, so he waited for Ignatius' elaboration

"This is an Elite Knight named Kye, reportedly, he was defeated, captured, and experimented on by a (Purple haired individual in his teens) presumably Leus"

Upon hearing that, Ishaan's eyes opened wide

"Leus is capable of defeating Elites?"

Ignatius answered in a slightly irritated tone

"You should've been aware of this information once it was updated, but anyway, Yes"

This information was very shocking, and it raised more questions about Leus' real power than answers

Ishaan asked in a very serious tone

"What does the report say about Leus' powers?"

Ignatius flipped to the last page, the page had a purple-colored square on it. He pressed on it, and an image of a purple lock hovered in the air.

Ignatius explained

"It seems that Leus is a holder of the Library's Emblem.

Arno has used his authority as The Librarian to secrete all the information regarding Leus' true powers."

Ishaan was dumbfounded.

He did know that Leus was Arno's apprentice.

But being an apprentice and being the Emblem's holder are two very different things.

Being Arno's apprentice meant that Leus would learn from Arno and have good connections with him, but that's it.

On the other hand, being the Emblem's holder meant that Leus had supreme control over at least 12 Elite Knights and access to every single book in the Library and all its resources, not only that, but it also meant that if for some reason Arno wasn't available or let's say, died, Leus would temporarily become The Librarian until an official Librarian was assigned by the Crimson Family, and the main candidate for the position would be him.

Sure, that was a far-fetched possibility, but it couldn't be denied.

To an extent, this meant that Leus had as much political power as Ishaan himself.

Sure, Leus couldn't do anything drastic without Arno's approval, but that's exactly the situation with Ishaan.

After all, he's only (The Deputy Master of The Guild) while the official Master has always been Ignatius.

All this information made Ishaan realize a very unsettling fact

'Leus is not just a child, he's an adversary'
