Once it reached the ground of the last floor, the flawlessly traveling elevator finally reached its last nest. A subtle tension formed within the confines of the finely sculpted walls of the cabin as Vex patiently waited for it to open, his eyes fixated on the flashing sign displaying the floor number, and his ears drawn to the constant beeping it was making.
A few moments after, his wait has finally come to an end. The sound of hinges and gears echoed as they worked together to pull the tightly closed door apart. The slabs of brushed steel finally creaked open, allowing a bright, soft light to slip inside the cabin.
However, Vex didn't end up facing the usual sight of the enormous entrance hall of the building, where usually the receptionists would be welcoming the groups of people into the building.
Instead, the door opened to the attack of blinding, brilliant white light before revealing the scenery of a seemingly endless corridor.
Vex stepped out, only to find himself surrounded by the pure white paint that coated every face of the corridor, and with the light bouncing out of it endlessly, it created an illusion of infinite space as everything stretched to great lengths.
As his footsteps echoed along his marching, it gave the narrow, yet spacious corridor a feeling of loneliness that accompanied the coldness that dominated the place.
Occasionally, doors painted in the same pure white attempted to break the illusion this confined space made, though it failed at most times as the human eye couldn't get the hint of the light and shadow play along its surfaces.
As Vex continued to walk, time seemed to have stopped a long while ago, as the feeling of insolation that this space gave, and the silence that lingered in it, made anyone venturing down this mysterious corridor lose any sense of time.
A long while after, the once-thought endless walk of Vex had come to an end, as the young man found himself standing before the presence of a menacing colossal door.
Though it resembled the look of all the doors in the vicinity, its size was not even comparable to that of a human, as humans standing next to it looked like dwarfs in the presence of a giant.
Vex continued walking to a panel next to it, where he extended his hand before it started scanning it.
[Greetings, Commander]
The robotic-sounding voice of a woman emerged from the little panel, breaking the silence that dominated the place.
The enormous door split in half, revealing what's behind it as it slowly slid apart. A spacious chamber nested behind. A reinforced version of the material used to construct the protective barrier that surrounded the city constructed its walls, with each of the metal panels separated by long sticks of brightly glowing neon light that illuminated every corner of the chamber.
The ground was completely white, with what seemed like a precisely measured grid painted on it.
Trays of countless, brilliantly developed, sets of weapons, ranging from old-fashioned ones that were given a futuristic touch like sword blades, reinforced spears and enhanced bows, to weapons that people of this age are much more familiar with, such as remodeled guns.
At the far end of the chamber, a bank of terminals and control panels occupied the space in front of a row of very few remarkably designed capsules, as they were a seamless blend off-color glass, and lightweight yet extremely powerful alloy of materials.
[Welcome to Arcane]
As he stepped inside, Vex was greeted with the with the same voice from a moment ago.
The chamber hosted no one other than himself for the time being, which didn't bother Vex whatsoever. Rather, it made him pleased, as he was given the opportunity to focus on his plans without any outer distractions.
As he went forward, Vex proceeded to take off the long black coat that he was wearing and hang it on his forearm. This action of his wasn't for nothing, as he needed to do it to avoid any problems.
Once he reached the control panel, he threw the coat on a nearby chair before starting to fiddle with the terminal in front of him.
After a few seconds, he headed towards one of the capsules that had opened for him. He quickly hopped inside, and the capsule door closed tightly.
"Begin the [Memory Scan] process"
[Starting The (N-SSP)… Processing the Order…]
[The Memory Scan process might cause trauma and/or harm to those unexperienced. Do you still wish to proceed?]
"Yes…"
[Initializing the process]
Not so long after, a green liquid of sort began filling the capsule. Vex took a deep breath and relaxed his body. By the time it was completely filled, Vex was floating in the liquid like a drowning corpse. All his muscles were completely relaxed, and his heart rate has lowered significantly, to the point that someone might believe that he had fallen asleep.
[Starting: Memory Scan]
Suddenly, his face slightly twitched. An excruciating pain flowed in his head as he began to breathe heavily. The once relaxed body of his was starting to stiffen, and his veins began expanding rapidly.
Following, memories of the incident began flashing before his eyes. As he was suffering from the pain in his head, everything from start to finish was playing rapidly and with precise details, not leaving a single moment of it.
After a few seconds, the pain had finally stopped. His body quickly relaxed once again and his breathing returned to normal.
[Memory Scan: Completed]
The liquid was quickly drained from the capsule before it opened its door. As he took the breathing mask off, Vex faced some difficulty when stepping out of the capsule.
"Oh my… This is still as awful as always," Vex uttered, holding his head as he headed towards the tray of weapons presented to him. His eyes landed on a pair of two machetes that were isolated from the rest of the weapons.
"This should be enough for this…" He tightly grabbed them, inspecting their blades with admiration.
"System Activate: M.C.S" Vex abruptly shouted as he turned to face the large training ground.
As he stepped forward, a ripple effect that resembled sound waves coursed through the floor. The once flat and neat floor began to shift as if the ground itself was alive. Its white paint started fading away as different textures appeared on the ground as it morphed into an uneven terrain.
Vegetation and trees started appearing on the now mossy ground, resembling a jungle scenery.
Following, what seemed like glitching shapes began gathering, sticking together as they attempted to form a being of some kind.
"You're finally here…"
