Chapter 27: Pearly Whites

As I stirred from my slumber, I slowly opened my eyes and found myself still in bed, nestled in the warmth of my blankets. I blinked a few times, adjusting to the morning light filtering through the curtains. My gaze shifted, and I realized that I wasn’t alone.

There, lying beside me, was my mate, fast asleep, his face relaxed and peaceful in his sleep. A small smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I watched him. I remembered the kiss we shared last night and I felt my body grow warm again.

I carefully moved closer to him, my hand reached out to gently brush a lock of hair from his forehead. He stirred slightly, his eyelashes fluttering before he slowly opened his eyes, blinking at me in the morning light.

“Good morning, sleepyhead,” I greeted, my voice soft and warm.

“Good morning, beautiful,” he replied, smiling up at me. "I have to admit, waking up to you is even better than I imagined."

I blushed, my heart skipping a beat at his words.
