When Luxe and Cara left, Nicholai only watched them with a smile. However, the smile dropped as soon as he was sure that they were out of the way. He even collapsed the hole that they had dug as if preventing the two from returning for them. The leading Alpha turned to face his mate. "Darius, please promise me that you'll tell me everything you wish to do."
Darius was looking down the atrium of the library before turning to his mate. With a weak smile, he nodded. Nicholai decided to trust that strange gesture. He then climbed the railing of the atrium and jumped to the other side on a lower floor as if showing Darius how to get down without straining his legs. It didn't matter whether Darius knew or not; Nicholai still wanted to go first.
The mate didn't protest. Darius was also scared to confront whatever was whispering in his ears. He probably wouldn't even go if Nicholai wasn't here with him.
