Chapter 32: Spying

“You’re wasting time arguing with me,” Sage said calmly. “I will be fine going to his room alone. Either one of you will attract too much attention.”

Caspian growled at her, unhappy with the plan.

“Nik won’t hurt me!” Sage told him. Would he?

“You don’t know that. At least let Felix stand guard at the door,” Caspian countered.

“How would I explain that? Oh, yeah, nothing suspicious going on here, just a shifter standing outside a warlock’s room while a witch rummages through his things!”

Felix chuckled.

“Fine,” Caspian snapped. “But he will stand watch outside the tower. You aren’t going alone. If he truly is using blood magic, there may not be much of your friend left. Who knows what he would do if he found you?”

Sage shuddered at the thought. Could Nikolas already be lost to her? She couldn’t believe he would ever hurt her.
