Chapter 8

Nora was comforting Delina, who was crying nonstop and wouldn't say why. A few guests noticed, but since she was human, most paid no attention, with the exception of Daniele Miller. She was one of the most popular in high school, but she was also very good and didn't tend to discriminate against anyone.

When Nora smelled pancakes and fresh strawberries, Daniele was holding Delina's hand and, seeing the difference in Nora's eyes, she wondered what could it be. She looked in the direction Nora was staring and understood completely. Nora and Kendric were mates. She turned to Delina and said she would take her to one of the rooms so that the girl would have more privacy to cry.

"Are you my mate?" Nora asked Kendric, who smiled and nodded.

"We can sit down there to talk better." Kendric pointed to a bench farther away in the house's garden and Nora nodded. Her wolf, Ally, was already connected to Rage and the two adored each other, happy to be together.

Meanwhile, Kraig smelled Delina again, the smell growing stronger and stronger. She was getting closer. Delina, even though she didn't have a super sense of smell, could smell the same she did on her birthday, but mixed with something ocher, like vomit. But instead of feeling disgusted and wanting to walk away, she felt like she wanted to follow the scent and care for someone.

"Is everything OK?" Daniele asked, seeing how Delina's eyes were intent on something. She could smell vomit and wrinkled her nose. Seeing the broken restroom door, she raised her eyebrows.

"I think someone is sick." Delina declared, heading towards the room where Kraig was. Daniele didn't know that Kraig and Delina were mates, so when the door was opened and the boy was lying there, with the covers over his legs, looking scared at the two of them, especially at Delina, she didn't understand very well.

"Oh, Kraig. What happened?" Daniele approached him, while Delina stood by the door, not daring to look at him.

"I just felt bad, that's all. Can you give us a moment? I need to talk to the human of the pack." Daniele looked from one to the other, but asked nothing. He was the future Alpha, and even though he hadn't officially taken the job yet, he wielded power over everyone else. She lowered her head and left.

Delina remained where she was, looking at the floor. She'd heard what he'd said to Daniele, but she couldn't imagine what he might have to do with herself.

"Come here." Kraig spoke in an Alpha tone. Even though Delina was human, she was still submissive to him, and she obeyed, stopping at the foot of the bed. He asked her to come closer, and despite her hesitation, she did so.

"What you want?" Delina asked, gathering her courage and lifting her eyes to face him.

"Why did you come here?" he asked, low but imperative.

"Nora wanted to attend the party, and since it's her birthday and she asked me, I came along. But don't worry, I'll be gone and you can enjoy the party again." She took a step back, already turning on her heels, when he grabbed her wrist. He felt the energy between the two of them, Zyon too, waking up and growing stronger. Kraig's body immediately began to recover, bringing great relief to him.

He pulled her closer, hugging her. As his movements were too sudden, and she was definitely not expecting it, she fell into bed with him. He brought his nose to her neck and inhaled deeply. She was like a balm.

"You smell so good." He commented, smiling. Delina felt welcomed, but at the same time, apprehensive. She tried to free herself from him, but he squeezed her even tighter. "Hush, princess. Be nice." He spoke, now not just sniffing her, but placing small kisses on her neck. She felt chills all over her body, a sensation she had never felt before. After a few minutes, Kraig felt brand new. Thinking clearly, now, he gathered his strength and pulled her away from him with some force, causing her to almost fall off the bed.

"Ouch!"

"You can go now. You have already served your purpose. Oh, and the next time you have an event that you know or at least suspect that I'll be attending, don't you dare show up, got it? You are not welcome!" His words hurt Delina deeply. She held back tears and lifting her chin with all her pride, she was gone, slamming the door shut as she left.

Kraig's face, which had been hard and proud, crumbled as soon as she left. He lay down on the bed, pouting. He was so happy with her there, close to him. 'Why did you have to be human?' he questioned in thought. Zyon roared angrily as Delina was pulled away from him.

"You are an asshole!" Zyon exclaimed.

"It's not your funcking business! You know my reasons and you also know that this is the best for all of us!" He spoke to Zyon, aloud. The wolf was silent again.

Kendric and Nora were talking and holding hands like two lovebirds. He really wanted to grab her and mark her right there, but he realized she wasn't the type to do such things in public. In fact, Nora had never been involved with any boy, he remembered, which filled his chest with joy. When Delina returned, Nora stood up and pulled Kendric with her towards her friend.

"Del, Daniele told me Kraig wanted to talk to you."

"Yeah, he was just feeling a little bad, but he's already great. That's why he sent me away." Nora and Kendric looked at each other. "No, we didn't do any of that! He just hugged me, sniffed me, and then threw me away." She spoke, embarrassed.

"All right. Do you want to leave?" Nora asked. Kendric didn't want to walk away from her, but he understood that his mate needed to help her friend, and if that would make her happy, he would be happy too.

"Yes, but you can stay there. Our house is not far away and I prefer to be alone for a while." Delina said.

"It's late, Del."

"Stay calm. When I get home I'll let you know. Mom must be there by now, anyway. I'm going to call her. Stay here and enjoy the rest of your day. And congratulations Nora, I'm super happy for you!" Delina hugged her friend, shook Kendric's hand and left. Elenora would meet her halfway.

Keira followed on social media about the party news, including that Kendric and Nora were the new super couple in the pack. She was furious about not being able to attend the party, because due to the school's warning, her father had grounded her for the rest of the month.

Days passed and turned into months. Delina avoided any pack parties or events as she believed Kraig would be there and the last thing she wanted was to find him. Even if he hadn't given the order, she wasn't going anywhere with a high chance of him being there.

Kendric and Nora tried to include Delina in everything. Nora was very happy to have Kendric with her, as he was very understanding. When she needed to be with Delina, he was with Kraig. Kendric avoided talking about Delina, on Kraig's express orders, but whenever he could snipe, he did.

The two girls worked afternoons at the orphanage and Delina had finally managed to get some money. She wanted the year to be over soon so she could dedicate herself exclusively to the job and raise all the money she needed to get out of pack territory. She didn't intend to go very far, until she could look for her biological parents, after all, she didn't want to stay away from Nora and Elenora, but the pack was a completely toxic place for her, since Kraig would be the Alpha, officially, in two weeks.

He dated a few girls, at least showed up with them in front of Delina. As those females were crazy for him to take them as Luna, even though they weren't his mates, they accepted him to give a few kisses and that was it. However, when he saw how Keira was everything Delina hated, he decided to do the Beta's will and invited Keira to dinner. In the last month, the two didn't let go and everyone was already whispering how she would probably be the new Luna in the bunch.
