[From: Aegis Industries]
[To: Scott Autumn]
[Subject: We've gone over the partial blueprints you've sent us, and we're happy to say we are interested in a deal. Your request for a 3% royalty on all sold ships based on these blueprints is fair, in our opinion. The issue we are having is finding creditability in your name. We haven't found any of your other works anywhere on the market. We aren't saying no, but we need to know if what we are buying is a good product. We'll be sending a representative over in 3 days of Empyrian time. Since this is where the message came from. Once we sort everything out, we'll start the paperwork.]
I read the message only once before I close the mail. I know that they'll buy it after talking to Pleiknor and Meiklare and if that doesn't convince them. Autumn's Fall will. There is still lots of time before I take the flight test. I'd like to have my pilot's license before the representative from Aegis gets here. The days work differently here on Empyrian, so the actual test should be in the next 8 hours or so. So that leaves me with time to figure out what I can do once this source of income is set up.
The inflow of cash is going to open so many doors. Most are new ships and access to better parts. Upgrading an existing ship costs exp, but creating a brand new one that's better doesn't cost any exp. I stand up from the chair and leave the computer as it turns off. I can think about all that stuff when the money is coming. Well, I've already thought of more than 15 great plans. I just want to pace myself a bit is all. Being first isn't always best. I can wait until more and more players are leaving Empyrian before me.
You don't get any special rewards for achieving anything. There are no incredible extra benefits for doing special things. So I do not need to be first off this world. I hear a knock at the door, and before I can say anything, it opens. I'm not met with Pleiknor and Meiklare, but the bounty hunter I kicked in the balls to learn how death works. I know he isn't here to kill me, or else he wouldn't have knocked, and I wouldn't still be here. "It took me a hot minute to find you, kid. Never in all my years as a bounty hunter has someone walked up to me and kicked me right in the nuts." He must want to talk about something other than death.
Possible scenarios include a job, maybe even an ally. "Don't take it personally. I wanted to test out how the death function works as a player. It's an essential thing to know about. I hope I didn't cause any more trouble for you after that." He shifts the toothpick in his mouth around and leans against the doorway. He is definitely contemplating something. He pulls out a small pad and tosses it to me. I start to read it immediately and absorb the information. It's a bounty for a man on Empyrian, and it's a very long rap sheet.
I lift my head back up and understand what he want's. He would like my help looking for this man. "My name's Durado. I'm looking for a person that can help me capture this man. He is straight-up insane, and while his file reads a terrorist to many governments. He is just an insane killer who likes to cause mass death." Yeah, his file said he blew up a planet with a modified super slip gate. The total number of deaths was around 9 billion. I've read that name before... Durado... It was mentioned in many of the articles I've read on the computer. I notice I have a message from the system too. I must have missed the notification.
[Congratulations!]
[You have met and gained a reputation with a Legendary and Iconic figure in The Aeternus Universe!]
[All that will be revealed to you about Durado, the bounty hunter, is he is known everywhere in The Aeternus Universe. Find out the rest on you own.]
[Current Reputation with you: Intirgued]
[Discovery for player Scott Autumn!]
[You have discovered the criteria to learn about the reputation system!]
[There are 3 reputation systems. The first being with a race of people due to your accomplishments. The second being with individual characters. The third is with characters of high standing.]
How about that... I have learned even more today.
