Soaring Through The Skies

Nova's POV:

I'm so excited about today! We're going on a field trip up in the skies to Cloudloft County: the county where they've got the best flying derbies in the entire monster world. The best way for species who can't fly to get up there is by boarding winged buses. That's right. Buses that have these huge wings attached to the sides. It is a bit tricky to look through windows that they block, so I hope I get the best spot to view for both the trip and the show. "C-can't you g-guys believe that we're gonna see all those handsome racers flying across those cool obstacle courses?" "I know, they are s-s-so handsome you just want to pass-s out in their arms-s-s." "Alright you two. Racing isn't just about the handsome guys, you know." "Oh w-we know, Nova. It's just that this is a big opportunity for us students to go and see an actual race." "Well I hope we get ourselves some good seats. I want to sit as high as where the racers may be flying past."Hopefully I could get a high five from s-s-someone at that height." Boy I can't wait any longer. I do not just want to stay seated on my desk wearing my flyer's derby jacket of Soaring Sky. He's my favorite racer of all time and he's participating in today's race. I really hope he wins. "Alright class, who's ready to go to Cloudloft's flyer's derby today?!" "Me!" "I am!" "Me too!" "Well what are we all waiting for, let's get on that winged bus!" Alright, this is it. We're one bus ride closer to witnessing that race and meeting Soaring Sky. "Wow t-that bus is pretty epic looking. Look at the wings on the sides." "Yeah I hope I DON'T get into a seat near those. They just block the view of the sky." "Okay class, now before we get onto this bus I have hear a list of assigned field trip partners that you must stay with at all times to avoid being alone." Mrs. Blindsworth did that really have to be necessary. Oh well as long as it helps keep me safe throughout the trip then I won't regret it. "Alright, first team: Viper Tree and Bubbles Von Blast." Well there goes my two buds. She continues listing every student until it's just me and another person. "Last but not least, Nova Asier and Breezy Sky." Wait a minute, Sky? Is she related to Soaring Sky?! I have no more time to think because said girl uses her sprouted wings to fly right at me. "Hidy hi hi, I'm Breezy Sky! Nice to meet you, ugh?" "Nova." "Alrighty then!" Man this girl is quite the hyper one, but hey, those kids are the ones that make school a more fun place. We both board the bus with Mrs. Blindsworth behind us as we finds some good seats in the back behind Vi and Bubs. "Hey Nova, this is a p-pretty nice ride isn't it?" "Bubs, we haven't even started moving yet." "I'm really excited! I wanna see all the cool racers competing against each other! Especially my big brother!" "Hey Breezy, speaking of which, who is your brother?" "Only the mightiest high flyer from this very city of Gorgon Gables! The only and only Soaring Sky!" "No way! He's y-your brother?!" "Now I s-s-see the resemblance. The claws, the beak, and the hair. Yes-s-s they definitely s-s-seem related." "I know right!" Wow, this is gonna be quite a ride there.

Time skip to the arrival:

After almost half an hour in that bus, we finally make it to Cloudloft County. At least the view from the window was nice to see. All that nearly could've ruined that moment was Breezy spreading her wings out and nearly suffocating me. Luckily I counteracted it by spreading my own wings. I don't spread them out too often, but in a situation like this, I definitely needed it. "We are finally here! I can't wait to go and see big brother!" "Let's go to our seats, class." Mrs. Blindsworth leads us to our seats. "Come on, Breezy. Let's go get those seats at the top of the bleachers." "But Silly, that's for the more privileged guests!" "Didn't you just say that you're Soaring Sky's little sister?" "Oh, yeah! Big brother, here we come!" "Where are you two g-going?!" "I thought we had to s-s-stay on this row with the rest of the class." "When you have wings and your related to a racer, you'll be sure to get the best view of the race! Come on!" Breezy picks up Vi and flies to the top bleacher. "Well Bubbles, I get we'll just have to go in pursuit." I pick up Bubbles and fly to the top. "Lookie lookie you guys! The race is about to start! Hey big bro! Where are you! Big bro?!" There on the sixth track at the starting line, is none other than Soaring Sky. Alright this is the time to try and not to freak out. Wait is my face getting red. "Nova a-are you okay?! You're getting redder than the color of your horns!" Oh no, I can't let the man see me like this! "Alright racers. On your marks." Oh boy. "Get set." Here we go. "Go!" And there they're off! Looks like Soaring Sky is in the lead. Man, his flying technique is just flawless. In second place I see another fan favorite racer catching up to him: Prince Pegasus. He's not a real prince, but that what fans call him. "Alright, there he goes. He's gonna make it through the half lap! Come on, big bro! You can make it!" "No way are you gonna beat a handsome jack like me, Soar!" Wait what is happening? No, did he just hit him in the wing?! Oh no he's falling! "Silly, we gotta save him!" "Let's go!" We both fly towards Soaring Sky and catch him before he could hit the ground. "Big bro! Are you okay!" "Y-yeah I'm fine sis, but my wing certainly isn't." He's right. There was a not so large cut covering his left wing. "What are you gonna do?! How are you supposed to continue the race?!" "I don't know if I can." No. No no no no no we have to do something. Wait a minute, I have an idea. "Breezy, you have to continue the race for him." "Wait what?! But there's no way they'll accept a girl like me into the race!" "Come on, sis. If they say that girls can't do it then you go show them what's up. Just soar through the sky." "Soar through the sky?! Your right, I can do it for you!" "That's the spirit, Breezy! I'll take Soar to the bottom bleachers." "Here, you'll need this to compete." How sweet, he gave her his racing helmet and goggles. "Don't worry, big bro! I won't let you or my friends down!" "Go Breezy!" "S-s-show those men what's up!" Looks like they don't seem interested in the men anymore, and that's a relief. Breezy heads to the starting line for the final round while I start patching up Soaring's wing. Jeez his wing is so soft. Oh wait what am I doing I have a race to watch.

Breezy's POV:

Alright here comes the final round! I look on my sides to see the other racers, but then I see on my left the big meany Pegasus who I saw hurting my brother! "Watch it, girly. Once I win, you and your brother's lives will be over." Yeah right! Silly and I saw what you did up there! I'm gonna win and show you a lass on, horsey! "Alright, folks. Since we've had an unfortunate accident with Sky, replacing him is Number #6, Breezy Sky. This race will determine who gets the ultimate victory." Already, Breezy! Get ready, get set, and I'm off! Me and the racers start flying as stupid pony boy takes the lead! Oh it's so on, dude! We both manage to soar as high up as we can to the point where no one can see us! "Come on, Breezy! You can do it!" Aww Silly seems to love cheering her fiends on! Alright, Breezy! Your so close to the finish! "Hey birdie, how's about time you landed on your nest!" Oh no! He's gonna aim at me like he did with big brother! Not this time, pony boy! I flip myself 360 style all the way to his other side! I use my remaining speed and zoom to the lead and bam! I manage to reach the finish line! Big brother, I did it! We won the race! I zoom all the way to the cloud ground, where all my friends lift me up shouting my name over and over again! "Little sis, I'm so proud of you. You definitely have what it takes to be a racer. Your the bomb." "Yeah, you hear that girls?! I am the bam!" "Uh you mean the bomb right?" "Yep that's what I say!" "W-what you said." "Uh huh! But this trophy goes to someone who deserves it way more than me! And that's you, Silly!" "Wait me?! But why though? What did I do to earn such a high prestige trophy from you?" "Well you are the one who helped inspire her to continue the race for me. That at least deserves some way to pay some respect." "Yeah, Silly! You derive it!" "You really believe so?" "Of course!" "Well if this really is your way of thanking me, then it would be an honor to accept your kindness back." "You hear that everybody?!" "Let's hear it for ugh?!" "N-Nova!" "Nova!" Everyone around us starts chanting Silly's name over and over again! Even Mrs. Blindsworth and the rest of the class are doing so! Now we wouldn't have to worry about getting in trouble later on! "Uh, sis?" "Yes big bro?!" "Smile for the camera!" "Wait what camera?!" And FLASH goes the camera he was talking about! "I hope I didn't come out bad in the picto!" Everyone is freaking laughing at me! Lewd, lewd, lewd! I hear a voice heavily directed towards me and it's that pony boy I beat! What does he want this time?! "If you're here to mess with my buddies there is no one I'll let that happen again, misty!" "That's not why I'm here." He sure sounds guilty compared to earlier! "Then why are you here then, Pegasus?" "I actually came here to apologize." "For what?!" "For hurting your brother and nearly costing you the victory. I guess I just got a bit carried away with wanting to win. I hope you could accept my apology." Aww, this dude has changed! Change is good! "No worries, pony boy! All is forgiven! Maybe one day we can have a home match once big brother recovers!" We both laugh at each other! "Well sis I'm glad this whole situation is over but he can't just go unpunished like that." "Fine how about no racing for tree months until after we race each other!" "Oh, Breezy. You sure know how to all of a sudden bring the fun into punishments." Oh Silly why you have to embarrass me like that?! "Well peeps what are we all doing?! Lets all go get ice cream!" "Whoo-who!" With that we all leave the stadium to go get ice cream! This really was the best field trip to the skies ever!
