"Then what comes after the adipose fin?" " That would be the caudal fin." "You sure are nailing it, kit." "Dad, isn't that nickname mostly for kitty cats?" "Of course not, cat hybrid or not you're still my little kit." "Yeah, yeah whatever you have to say." Coral enters the house and walks to the study table. "Honey, sweetie, I'm home!" " Hey, Mom. Uh, what are those pink slips you've got there? Wait don't tell me you got into any legal trouble. I may be young but I know a pink slip when I see one." "That's our little girl, Babe." "Inu! Anyways sweetie these aren't pink slips. They're coupons for that new shop they opened up at the mall last Friday." " Cardinal Cutie? That store's quite girly if you ask me." Inu earns himself a good old scale slap from his wife, and Nova sure can't help but laugh at it. " You sure got yourself owned by a pectoral fin, dad." "I can tell where you get several bad habits as well." " Well as I was saying, I was thinking that maybe we could do some shopping there tomorrow." " Alright fine, but I'll only go because I love you, Mom." Coral gives her baby the juiciest hug any mother could give to their child. "Isn't our baby girl just the sweetest?!" "Oh, is it Catalina Siamese? The leader of the Alley Cats?" "Yep, babe. She apparently needed some new guitar strings because her claws accidentally tore the original ones off." " That's why cats need to keep their claws in whenever they're touching stuff, kit." " Don't have to tell me twice. Besides, I've never even heard about the Alley Cats before. Are they new, Mom? Dad?" " Well they only debuted last month so you can kind of say that." "Why don't you look them up and see for yourself, kit." "You know what, I'll just go do that right now." With that, the little heart demon speeds into her bedroom and immediately starts looking up the Alley Cats on her laptop. "Hmm, they sold 10,000 copies for their very first album release. That can't even top Dirty Dev's record of 280,000 copies sold on her first album release! Gee, Mom really seems to have an interest in having so called 'popular' customers at that music store she works in." The rest of that relaxing Friday night was spent learning about how to handle ferocious felines and how they can be tamed.

The next morning....

"Isn't this exciting, sweetie. We are gonna have the best mother daughter day at the mall today!" " I just wanna see how much money in those coupons we'll eventually end up wasting today, plus I just really want some good old shrimp tacos from the food court. Yummy, and to top it off I'll add some spicy old MAD DOG sauce. Gosh that sauce is the best." "Nova! Now isn't the time to be thinking about food! The sooner we get to Cardinal Cutie the better chance of finding good clothing before they get sold out." Coral parks the car and mother and daughter get off to walk into the mall entrance. The Googly Awe Shopping Center is one of the most popular shopping malls in the entire city of Gorgon Gables. From clothing stores to food areas to a kids playground, this place is a great place to hangout with friends and family, especially for visitors and tourists. "So Mom, where is this new store? I just wanna get there, buy what I like, and get FOOD!" " Now sweetie, calm down and have fun! Look, isn't that the arcade you like to go to with Dad?" "Mom where on Olympus do you see - oh my goodness is that the Playcade?!" "You sure bet it is. Do you wanna go on a little round of Jack-o-Ball?" "Oh it is so on, Mom." So there the young lad plays a total of three rounds against her mermaid mother at Jack-o-Ball, winning by a whole lot yet still enjoying the fun of the game. After all, all is fair in love and ball shaped pumpkins. "Oh come on, sweetie the store will be open any minute now we have to hurry!" "Okay okay there's no need to rush, Mom. It's only a few minutes away from the arcade." The mother and daughter walk into the entrance of Cardinal Cutie and spot an orc working at the cashier. "Welcome to Cardinal Cutie, ladies. How may I help you today?" "Hello there we're just here to find some cute clothing, especially with these coupons I've got here." "Well I'll show you where we've got the absolute trendiest of choices." "I wonder what the trendiest choice of hats with holes they might possibly have here so I could have myself a place to hide stuff in it." "Well we've got plenty of those in that hat section over there. Feel free if you need any further help, ladies." "Well lets go look in that dress isle over there. Maybe we can find a cute dress for you to wear for dinner later on tonight. Dad's taking us to Harper's Grill." "Ooh you mean that restaurant where you flip a red and green switch to ask for more food? Sweet!" "I'll let you pick out the one you like the best. Fair?" "You bet." There were plenty of different dresses to choose from, but there was one that stood out the most. It was a plaid black and white dress with short sleeves that reach to the knees. Just the kind of dress that would satisfy a little heart demon girl. "Ooh, hey Mom can I have this dress?" "Wow that's a pretty swell dress. You sure you want this one?" "Yeah it looks like it'll reach my knees." "Well let's go try it out in the fitting room." In the fitting room, Nova comes out looking stunning in the dress, as it fits perfectly for her size. "Oh sweetie you look so beautiful. It makes me a bit jealous seeing you in it." "Oh, Mom." Coral spots the woman's section out of interest. "Sweetie, I'll be in the women's section. Stay here with the cashier lady." "Cinnamon, my name is Cinnamon, ma'am." "Alright, well stay here with Cinnamon, sweetie." "Got it, Mom." With that, Coral checks out some women's clothing while Nova stays with Cinnamon at the cashier. All of a sudden, while looking around the store, Nova spots a pair of cat ears sticking out from the kids T-shirt rack. "Hey Cinnamon, can I go look at those cat ears over there?" "Hmm that's odd. We don't usually keep headbands in the clothing section of the store." Nova walks over to the cat ears and spots that the ears have gone down. "Hello, is somebody there? There's nothing to be scared of. I'm Nova Asier." Slowly, but gently, a figure around Nova's size comes out of the rack. It was a young calico cat girl wearing a green bohemian dress and white Mary Janes. "Uh, hello there. I came here with my mom when I saw you getting a plaid dress with who I believe is your mom." "Well yeah. She wanted me to come hear to use some coupons she got the other day." "My mom got a coupon a few days earlier, but wanted to use it to get clothes for me since she's not into girlish fashion. " Okay, but why were you hiding inside of the T-shirt rack?" "Oh, w-well I was just watching you over there. I've never really communicated with any demons before, or seen one up close either. My name is Alexa Siamese. I may be a calico cat but that's my last name because my mom is a Siamese cat. My dad was a calico cat." "Wait a minute, was?" "Yeah. He died several years ago in a car accident." Said mermaid looks absolutely offended while the girls just stand there laughing. "Hey Cat, since we're here together would you and Alexa like to come over for dinner with us? I'm sure my husband wouldn't mind some company." "That will be delightful. What do you think, kit?" "That sounds nice. I've always wanted to go out to dinner with a friend's family." "Hold on a second, Alexa. Your mom calls you kit? Oh boy now this alley cat is starting to remind me of Dad." Both mothers chuckle at that statement. "Here's everything we'll like, Cinnamon." "Wow, you sure used a lot of those coupons. Customers earn more coupons depending on how much they buy, so you just got yourself a few more for some other time." "Wowie, did you hear that, sweetie?" "We'll get to come here again some other time." "Yay, hopefully with Dad so that he could take me to Playcade while you're here." "Hahahaha!" "Hehehehe." "Hey that's not funny!
